It means the Richmond family (some big donor) paid a bunch of money to create an endowment supporting the basketball head coaching position. Basically, a big investment account that pays some amount of interest every year that BU is (almost) free to spend like a slush fund for business expenses.
It's a common form of university donation, though usually you see it for chaired professorships or academic leaders.
