I am aware, but most people stay home when they have the flu. They have to, because they are knocked on their butts for at least 3 or 4 days.

But we have a team full of kids who have been raised to fight through it and "not let the team down," so they come to practice and/or games super sick and super contagious. And they're all breathing hard while running around playing the game, which doesn't generally happen in the supermarket or on the quad.

It's a very straightforward lack of an adult in the room to tell them to stay the heck home until their fever is gone.

So, maybe if the team really has been that sick, it gives Brad a pass on how poor we've played to an extent and how resigned to it he seems. But on the other hand, he seems to have had a large hand in allowing whatever illness it is burn like wildfire through the team by not following some pretty simple rules about when it's safe for sick people to return to the team.
The sad thing is we're having the same issue in our office right now with the recent round of layoffs- seems like everyone is passing everything around because people are too afraid to take a sick day out of fear they'll get laid off (benched). So I don't know if adults are really any better right now. I remember when I played on a partially torn achilles and another when I was concussed because I didn't want to be called soft or lose my spot. You're right though, as weird as it sounds it's easier to play injured or sick than it is to not play, but that's what a coach is there for, to hold a kid back temporarily so they can both not hurt themselves or hurt the team then put them in with the full trust they had before.

Was at the game tonight in Madison. One positive I noticed was BU lightning into KJ, Ben and Tre about Bs turnovers. We really do need a better defensive and offensive coordinator. Will Reilly is a matchup nightmare and we really need to figure out how to get him to his spots. It’s clear that Tomi isn’t himself. And Dra is playing really well. Hopefully they figure it out.

So who’s coming back next year? Ty? Morez? Dre?
Not so sure about anyone else. And if I’m Dre I wouldn’t trust underwood to look for a GR transfer. Tre’s gotta be tired BU and his bull!!!!. You dam well know he was in the dog house for good. BU has no choice tonight. Bet Brad goes back to getting older

He's not "worse" other teams have learned how to stop him and he hasn't been able to adjust for some reason.
I look at it like this. Among KJ's most impressive plays were no look or seemingly impossible passes that he did in the first five games of the season.

Now, when KJ is dancing around in the lane, players know to block off passing angles to open spots where a cutter might be, and look, turnover!

It's that simple. I've seen it happen a ton of times. It looks really bad on TV, like why was he throwing to triple coverage? Because that worked in game 5. We ain't in game 5 anymore.

Could you perhaps scheme other ways to do it? Sure. But is KJ good at any of those things? Well, that's the real trick, isn't it?

Well the only reason Morez, Ty and Tre are here was because of TA ... And they all didn't come here to sit the bench and get DNP - Coaches Decision ... And not start ... And redshirt ...

Booth is not a HM player ... I don't even need to discuss that one ... Jakstys ... Also not a HM player ...

KJ and Will are going to the NBA ...

Ben has another year if he wants it but it won't be here ...

DGL is playing better than Kylan and can barely touch the court ?? I'd transfer too ... Kid got recruited over and stuck it out and worked his butt off and has proven he has the fire when other guys don't and doesn't get rewarded for it ...

Everyone thought DGL was going to be the disloyal kid because he hopped around HS or whatever ... Kid is the most loyal dude on the team ... And doesn't get nearly enough love for it ... Kid just brings it ... Every time he's on the court ...
DGL has no quit in him..

Again ... I am simply stating that while that may be the case ... That certainly is not going to be the story that is told ... You think his agent is going to tell NBA teams that his client couldn't adjust and figure it out ??

They are going to say well they didn't coach him on what to do or change ... They will say well the kid is 18 ... He needs coaching ... Well the talent is there ... We've got good coaching ... Okay he's worth a higher pick because we think it was the coaching in college and not the kid ...

Right or wrong ... That is how they will look at it ... And that is what NBA teams will get told and what they are already getting told ...

I mean, look... if we had sat 2 or 3 players back in January when they first got the flu and told them to stay home, we would have been at full strength again in a week and a half or so.
And you know this how exactly?

I think Brad needs to commit to building a team that will be here 2-3 years together, rather than going after every portal toy and 1 and done he can find. Building 1 year teams simply isn’t sustainable
I don't disagree but that isn't the problem here. We have a LOT of talent. They can play together, but they look lost at times and we're TERRIBLE at making adjustments. Portal toys or no, we have coaching issues. Being up double digits on MSU and then blowing the game, and these kids are fighters. They aren't quitters. Brad keeps saying that he'll live with the turnovers. DO NOT LIVE WITH THE TURNOVERS. Fix that crap. And if going inside is working and the defense adjusts, then find new, different ways to keep pounding it inside; don't just shrug your shoulders and start lobbing prayer threes while your lead evaporates. Tonight we got handled. And finally, shout out to my favorite player on the team Morez Johnson. You had a great rookie year and I hope to see you back. Get healthy and practice your free throws. Heh. Team is still fun to watch but I have zero expectations now. Hard to get invested in a poorly coached team. It'd be fun to interview the coaches that left last year.

It's mid February ... The time to "figure it out" has come and gone ...

Somehow still only dropped to kenpom 21 and 13 in torvik (seriously is that based on virus count, how are we still so high in that).

At this point, I'm hoping after we limp to the finish of the regular season (which seems inevitable at this point), the big ten tourney gives a is a break mentally/physically and we can gather some momentum. Morez comes back and we try and salvage this season and my sanity.

So you are claiming that NBA teams base their draft picks on what agents tell them?

In some cases ... Yes - that is exactly what I'm saying ...

Rich Paul has MAJOR influence over who many teams select ...

LeBron got his own kid drafted for crying out loud ...

GMs and Execs listen to all sorts of people ... And if they want a better chance at FA let's say ... They can be more inclined to draft someone higher than they should probably go ...

Example: How do you think AJ Johnson got drafted ahead of TJ ??

KJ is facing aggressive double-teams every possession. the others are not.

I remember when Kylan and Tomi were at the same press conference earlier in the season they were drinking Gatorade from the same bottle passing it back-and-forth. I remember when Tomi was sick with mono. He was sitting on the bench with everyone. Mono is highly contagious and we are lucky he was the only patient payer with that. Influenza A is very contagious so when our players were diagnosed, why wouldn’t there be a two day quarantine to prevent further illness?

If it's influenza, as was reported a few weeks ago when DGL (I think it was him) played through it, then we as a society know a lot about how it spreads and how to help avoid it. It is spread by respiratory droplets in close contact with others. The sort of things a person generates when they run and breath hard. So if you say "hey, man, why don't you sit out a few days and come back when your fever is gone," then you stop that person from infecting his teammates.

And for young, healthy people, flu tends to knock you down for 2-5 days and then they can rejoin polite society.

If you instead say "wow, way to be tough and fight through it," then you're probably infecting a new person every few days and you have a wave of illness run through the team.

Problem is that Norovirus may only last a couple days of symptoms but you are contagious up to 3 days after symptoms end. Most people assume my fever is gone, my throwing up, etc. is gone, I’m fine now! Wrong, you’re still contagious. Lived it. Got most of the whole family sick at Christmas because I went feeling fine on day 2 after symptoms. Brutal!
