For the millionth time ... They found NO VIOLATIONS on Sean ...

Also - if you think no one in the Big Ten was paying players before NIL ... LOL :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:
I was gonna say....if you think they were the only ones doing it, I've got a bridge to sell you. I had a close friend who was a high-major D1 player and coach who told me years ago that just about everybody's cheating/paying guys...some are just better at it than others. Dee & Deron drove some nice cars back in the day. Just sayin.

did you forget the allegations when he was at OSU? You think Kofi fell in love with cornfields on his visit?
It's all about plausible deniability. Hell, UNC used that to skate their academic fraud.

"Seriously, everyone. The basketball team can't be busted for bogus classes because the entire university was able to take those classes!" And enough people believed it for UNC to avoid punishment!

No it's not. People just don't do it anymore because NIL has made it obsolete, but if someone were to do it for some dumb reason they'd get hammered by the NCAA.

If you don't want to count it against him I completely understand, and I don't really care about it either, but what Wade did is not the same as NIL, and saying it is now legal is just false.
Functionally, they are the same. You pay players to play ball at your school. It is not false, now these things are just more in the open.

NCAA Tournament success and fan support (or apathy) are also factors.

So are TV media contracts and the House settlement fallout.

Overall, it's fine to prefer one over the other but we are shopping in same aisle.

Find me an ‘elite’ coach that didn’t operate in the grey….you won’t find much success. Need to keep up with the times or you get passed.
I suspect we had that guy, and now "Groce" is a four-letter word in this state.

Texas is VERY interested in Brad … Top of their list based on what I’ve gathered …
More interested than you saying Dusty May would most likely end up at Indiana or Illinois after this season (24 hours later his new contract with Michigan was revealed). Or as interested as North Carolina was in Brad (days later it was revealed that Davis received an extension)

He didn't just pay players. He arranged jobs for their friends. He paid for apartments for their family members. He paid off an ex-girlfriend of a player in exchange for her silence.

You can't do any of that. None of that is NIL.The fact that you functionally don't have to any more doesn't make it legal. It just makes it obsolete.

I'd actually be ok with hiring him if we had an opening, because I don't think he'd do any of that stuff again in an NIL world and I have no illusions that out staff has never done that stuff. Of course they have, one way or another. But to day "it's legal now," is just not true.

must mean he completely forgot how to coach. No other answer.
Well, it certainly is relevant to the conversation because folks on here have been banging on Brad for his lack of postseason success. I mean I would rather make it to the tourney every year and let the chips fall where they may than not make it all.
