Brad likes Jakstys …

If I’m Jakstys, I’d rather get a world class education for free, travel by private plane and not by bus, eat elite catered food instead of fast food, and stay in my nice apartment than a dorm room and I get a little NIL on top ??

No incentive to drop down a level … Illinois is a lifetime decision … The degree matters … He knows he ain’t going to play in the league …

I'm intrigued by him but also have to remember that BH's 3pt% ticked down almost a full 10% in the transition to Big 10 basketball. Harmon's % also dipped down going from WAC to B1G.

I think open 3s are harder to get in the B1G, SEC, Big-12 than in mid-majors. Much better defenders in this conference than in the WCC. And given Odum's lack of track record prior to this season, I think caution is warranted. That being said if you want a pure playmaker PG and the shooting is just a bonus if it pans out, then that makes sense to me.
Sure, always a risk, but Kylan’s 3% dropped significantly and he came from a high major. Davis only dropped slightly coming from Mercer. I don’t think Ben’s problems shooting have anything to do with better defenders. He’s had plenty of good looks. Just not having a good shooting year. Unless Brad completely scraps the offense, getting good looks against good defenders isn’t an issue. And I wouldn’t expect Odum to be a high volume shooter from 3 at Illinois. I’d take him in a heart beat.

Obviously Odum's highlights look great, as highlights do, but can anyone comment on how he is defensively? My main concern would just be that he's listed at 6'1" and 160 lbs.
I saw him play in 4 games this year (my Beavers are in same conference) and I’d call him a willing defender. He’s not going to make anyone forget Trent and size could be an issue at times, but he competes and did average more than a steal a game. And in case one thinks he was padding those stats against cupcake, he averaged a steal a game against toughest opponents on the schedule — Northwestern (had two steals), St Mary’s (3 games) and Gonzaga (2 games).

Tre White for sure. Martinelli is only comparable because he is “THE” guy there and has the ball in his hand all the time. I think their floors are similar but Tre’s ceiling is so much higher. He impacts the game without the ball much better than Martinelli IMO which is the role we would have open. This is all assuming Tre and the coaching staff have resolved their internal issues and Tre doesn’t get a month long illness next year too 😅😅
If Treys shot from 3 continues to improve that really changes things. He has been shooting the trey much better and even enhances his ability to drive the ball and get fouled. I do like Trey's ceiling.

They want Ben back … In a bench role like he has now for not even half of the NIL he got this year …

If he is willing to accept that … He’ll be back … If he’s not … He’ll be gone …
Role yes - money no. Brad is willing to pay him around the same amount.

But also will be raising our budget for next year with the revenue sharing in there. This year we put in around 4.5 mil and next its looking more like 6m+ with possibly going higher.

I hadn’t heard it would be the same amount …

That’s interesting and also absolutely insane by Brad …

I agree with you and have heard the same … $6-7 million to spend …

And for those that like to do the deep dive … Check the hometown … And check what HS he played for … Check and check … ✅✅

Why is that significant you might ask …

Do you think St. Johns will be after him though with him being in Pitino's back yard? Would love this pickup though.

Odum, Boswell, Portal Wing, Morez, Tomi …

Bench: Sarr, Portal Guard, Ben, Portal Stretch 4/5, Davis, Wagler, Lee, Jakstys, Redd, Open/RS Candidate …

I could see a scenario where Tre is back as well …

There are some legs to the Big Z rumors from what I’ve been told …
Huff stretch 4?

Will take big Z to go with Tomi and Morez. We need off bench size and Cal is an idiot coaching wise.
