As far as the subbing goes, unfortunately most of our starters need rest. So we got to have someone come in and give them a breather now and then even if they are playing well. Especially Tomi, he's still not in the best game shape. It's pretty obvious because the last few games when he hit threes early they usually stop falling in the second half, nearly always short. We need to keep his legs as fresh as we can.

Huh?? I don’t mean to be a jerk but how many games have you watched this year? This was a typical/standard game for him.
How can a 0 point 0% from 3 performance be "standard" for a guy who avg 8 points and shoots 35% from the 3?

He is 16th in an 18 team league in 3 pointers made for the year

Out of 34 games, this is the 5th he's had with no 3s made

Yep, my heart rate went down noticeably after that WR3+KJ2 sequence, otherwise I might be sitting in the ER right now. LOL
Pro tip: Always call an ambulance. They deliver you directly to the ER, no waiting room delay.

Point? Why did KJ slow the game down when Will was going nuts? He was rockin and rolllin! Then Ben was a rally killer by clanging 3's off the rim. Ok I had to get that out. Very good game overall. Everyone was clicking, doing their thing. Hate the sloppy passing, breaks up the flow of the game, will have to curb them against the Cats. My big question is--Can this team put back to back games together against top competition or will they be lethargic and show signs of fatigue? They will definitely have to hit some 3's to keep the Cats off guard. Kentucky like the Illini don't like to play defense very much. One parting question-who was suppose to be guarding Swain? Whoever it was got torched! If the Illini come out and play hard they can beat Kentucky. I would love to tell my grandson who is a Kentucky fan to stuff it! Illin 82- Cats 79

Might have been best 40 minutes of the year. Only minor concern was the number of turnovers. Great to have good KJ back
Congrats coach and team to keep marching on. Overdue for Illinois to beat a team seeded 3 spots higher for the first time and make the S16

Also did not hurt that he was on the court when we were hitting some shots. ]]

Jake and DGL were just to slow to play against Xaviers players.. they are quick to bad they can't shoot.

I will take Swain if he wants to come here in an instant.

Was at the game. I'm sure it came off on TV by the sound but the arena was covered in orange and blue(with one major section of Kentucky Blue and other Kentucky fans scattered across the arena). But, easily 70-80% of the fans were Illini supporters. We really came out and supported our team and I would expect the same for Sunday(I'm going back and forth on whether I should go again tomorrow).

When I saw Dailyn Swayn going off, all I could think of was uh oh, there goes another average to slightly above average player who is having his career best game against us lol. But, the positive is that Freemantle was limited outside of early on in the game and same with Conwell.

We outrebounded them, we got more assists, we shot blocked, and we shot well from 3 pt range. The only thing we didn't do well was turn the ball over. Really balanced effort and was proud of Boswell, Tomi, KJ, and Riley. Riley woke up like a man possessed in that second half. Loved seeing some of that energy from him getting the crowd amp'd up since he's more of a quieter guy. Morez gave us quality minutes and key dunks when needed. You never felt like they were going to give up the lead even when Xavier went on some of their runs. They always had an answer and that's great to see given the youth on this team.

Two guys I feel for: DGL for barely getting any minutes and Ben Humrichous. DGL getting only 1 minute which was meant to spell someone in the first half is just a complete abomination as far as I'm concerned. This is my only gripe. He's going elsewhere next year and I don't blame the guy one bit. This was my first live game this season and you could really feel that the arena wanted Ben to make a three or make that one shot where he played bully ball and tried to back down his defender. I didn't hear any negative murmurs about him each time he missed a shot. Just sighs. It was honestly the first time all year that I felt truly bad for the guy. I think now that he's coming off the bench, there's no more animosity that he's taking Will's minutes anymore or that he's taking more minutes than he should be. He's honestly in the role he was meant to be and the starting 5 are the ones who should've been starting for a while now.
