They need to find a coach who can teach how to defend the screen and roll. The drop coverage didn't work tonight. Finally, we beat ourselves tonight. But KJ got fouled on that last play that went off of him. You breathe on a guy and it is a foul KJ got hacked.

Hopefully KJ gets drafted or hits the transfer portal tomorrow, I can't take another season of his loose handles, lazy passes and poor shot selection.

DGL was giving us quality minutes and one heck of an effort for a good part of this season and then it seemed to me that constant slap downs and consistent low to no playing time broke his will to perform. That's a heck of a way to treat the only person loyal enough to compete for playing time on your team from last year. I feel for a good part of the season he deserved more tic to reward his effort but coaching staff obviously didn't agree with me.

It doesn't seem to me that Morez got a fair shake this year also and many minutes were given to others that I feel did not perform better than him.

I find it hard to believe there will not be a mass exit to the portal yet again this year due to the way hard work and effort didn't seem to be rewarded by the coaching staff. We will see soon.

I personally feel if we're paying one of the top coaching salaries and top 15 in NIL (?) we should be getting better results.

I know many will disagree with me but this is JMHO, I don't really care if you disagree, that's your choice.

Nobody gives a carp about the 2010s. This is the mid 2020s, we have the facilities and the NIL. We are the freakin Illini!
Next season I hope we are the FIGHTING Illini. Where did they go?
I most certainly do. It's our most disappointing decade in school history, and I'd rather never go through that again!
I never give Carps...only Catfish :ROFLMAO:

It is to me. If you're happy with a R2 loss, then have at it. BU talks about being Elite. Sorry, not settling.

He has been quoted we don't run an offense we just look for matchups. And that there is the issue. Why you get lunch money stole from you from well coached teams.
Right. I have read this but just refuse to accept it since it is so obviously highly flawed and he doesn’t have to look far for the evidence. I love his culture building but this deficiency sets his ceiling.

Underachieved based on talent.

Overall, this season was meh. Had some blowouts both ways, played poorly when the lights were the brightest.

Real work starts now. If Brad wants to be a "CEO" coach, he needs to get some assistants that can scheme and make in game adjustments. Keep a solid core of 4 or 5 guys, get a Sarr and some tougher older transfers.
That Xavier game was pretty sweet, though

The season is obviously still disappointing, but people really need to put things in context. The sky is not falling. Regroup and reload for next year.
"Obviously disappointing." I can get behind that eval. And behind the drive to REBUILD for next year.

Let's re-establish EDG culture. Let's recruit some defenders (sure, who can shoot), and some die-hard winners. Let's be wary of guys focused too early on the NBA. Instead, let's get re-established that winning here and now, at the NCAA level, will be exactly the thing that leads to your (individual) success at the next level.

You all heard it.
Every game.
Every game whoever was calling it had in their notes the phrase “lottery pick” whenever referring to KJ.

Nonsense
F’ing nonsense

I'd like to point out that if we regard '24, '25, and '26 as the mid-2020s, we're 2/3 of the way thru it with a B10 Tourney banner, two tourney appearances, four tourney wins including an Elite8 appearance, really good Kenpom numbers, two twenty-win seasons, an All-American, a dude in the league, a triple-double in the tournament, tons and tons of fun for our fans across three NCAA venues, some hi-profile publicity, and more, I'm sure.

Look, I'm definitely not a sippin orange soda from my always full glass while wearing orange colored shades type of fan. But this wasn't a bad season. If you're thaaat disappointed, you probably didn't understand what you were signing up for.

With our lack of continuity and experience, a second weekend season was always going to be an uphill battle. Stop getting hung up on the NBA draft. This is college.

Just going off memory here, but on average, when Illinois makes the tournament, we're a 6 seed and we win one game. So this is a pretty typical season for us historically.

We'll be fine. Likely back to preseason top 25 next year.

I hate the NIL. I hate the current state of basketball. I liked the old days knowing most of these guys were coming back. I will always love Illini basketball, but this version of the college basketball world is complete garbage. I'm not opposed to playing players, but let's get a grip on the musical chairs. Contracts for periods of time should be signed.

And secondly, stop picking on Brad. The guy has produced a winning program. Does he make mistakes? Absolutely. Some of the in-game decisions are maddening. But I'm here for it, and he is OUR coach.

Until next season.....peace to all.

If the guys that can come back, do come back, absolutely. Last year taught us to not rely on that line of thought.

Too many mistakes. Too few Threes for team built on them. Too few guys to help Boswell who did the Illini proud today.

Once again, Our Beloved hit that Big Tournament ceiling and did not break through it. Like too many times before.

Not sure this Illini group together ever did put all their promise together that was possible on the floor.

And so... another season of promise ends in a March blizzard of Kentucky blue. And we are once again forced to watch the same old legacy nameplates of privilege vie for the Big Trophy. As if their trophy case was not already filled enough.

And the promise of another Springtime runs headlong into the cold Winter of a sudden season’s end and our wondering what could have been.

Thanks, Illini, for a good season and what you gave us.

Alright here it is.

I love Brad for bringing us back from irrelevance and raising the floor.

Now do we want to give him a nice 10 years left run where maybe he makes one F4 ?

That’s basically what Lou did. Regular tourney qualifying, too many crash outs, but in the end a pretty good year in year out product.

We good? Or do we want to take the next step and see if we can do better?

Always mindful of the fact that for every swing at getting great there can be misses at only being good.

I get the frustration but one was a seasoned veteran and one a freshman. One couldn't have given a sh*t less and one, by all accounts really really cared about the team and improving. One was a not so great teammate and the other the exact opposite. I have a lot of respect for KJ and wish him the best. I didn't really think twice about MM leaving.
