Defense should be the top priority for the team this recruiting cycle. Should be a fairly easy thing for a team that has good NIL $ to acquire. Just get a bunch of long and athletic dudes that play hard and build a scheme appropriately.

He'd likely have to back door his way into that spot... But that usually comes with resistance

Imagine being a player on that team. You just finished competing in the NCAA Tournament... the Big Dance... something every player aspires to as a kid. Then you find out that your team is dropping to Division 3.

Woof.
Not only that, they also won their conference tournament….you know they all headed to the portal.

I'm going to ask this respectfully. Why continue to bash the kid? Seriously. Is it trying to be funny or do you really despise him to the point where you take cuts at him two days after the season ends.

I shouldn't point this question directly at you because you're not the only one.

Dumb question here….What does it mean when it says ‘entering portal with a do not contact tag’?

Tell me the major difference between Dix and Goode?? Dix is a little better ball handler that’s it. Last year we didn’t even have a spot for Goode this year a Goode type is a huge priority??

(1) Usage rate. Dix is providing a similar offensive rating as Goode with a lot more volume. Traditionally there is a loss of efficiency as players are asking to providing more scoring as their career's progress. It's great that Goode is a plus offensive player, but there's a big difference when you are providing 4-5 shots game as the 4th or 5th scorer on your team (Goode) and being asked to take 10+ shots/game. Goode's usage rate peaked at 15% this year, Dix is already at 20%.

(2) Efficiency. Speaking of loss of efficiency, let's compare their player efficiency rating (PER). League average PER is 15. Goode is a less efficient than league average (13.5) while Dix is more efficient (18.3). Josh's PER is behind Big Tom, on par with Tre White, but ahead of Riley, Jock, and Boswell.

(3) Shooting. Dix is a better shooter and great variability on what type of shots he is seeking. Goode is shooting 3's and putbacks after rebounds, which sticks out with his shooting percentages. It's also not great that Goode's career FG% is 40% (but 39% from 3 is great!). Dix has a much more diverse shot chart, which strains the defense in a way that Goode wasn't equipped to accomplish. Dix is a career 51% shooter and 40%+ from 3.

With the news on Ty and caveat of accepting a bench role, I'd say it's safe to say the jump shot hasn't come along as well as he'd have liked**

**complete WAG
Or the sentiment is out there that he's going to be a bench/role player unless he transfers to a mid major? That'd be a monster dive from where he's been and the experiences he's had, but guys want to play.

Maybe he would want to go home if home for him was one of the MI schools? They're both in the tournament, so nothing is going to happen there for a while.

We shall see.

Dix can create his own shot off the dribble, hit a high percentage of 3's, and has an advanced mid-range/floater game. Goode has dribbled a ball, hits a respectable % of 3's, and knows his limitations.

Goode 40% career FG%
Dix 51% career FG%

Well, for one, Dix's stats are better than Goode's in every way other than ft% and even ft% for a career is a wash. Dix is just a better player.
He was featured in Iowa’s offense. That team was borderline mid major material imo. I don’t want to feature Dix in our offense. He’d be a nice Goode role type guy. But I don’t want to go into games relying on sets ran through Josh Dix. He’s a liability on defense as well

Disagree, Goode is a better player than Humichrous (28.1 MPG in Big Ten play). So there was definitely "a spot". Maybe they misevaluated or missed out on better targets, but if anything Illinois is often too eager to show guys the door as "not having a spot" only to realize better options aren't there. Retention should be a higher priority imo.

As far as Josh Dix, he could play on any just about any team in the country. He's going to have his pick of the litter as far as offers go.

Working on Ty as well. Would have to likely accept a bench role, but they want him back.
This one will be very interesting to watch over the next few weeks.
Ty said he was working on his PG skills this redshirt season.

Its a shame he is not 6'10". He would make a nice power forward or center.

A top 75 PG has to be able to penetrate to basket, feed other players, break the press, hit open jumpers, hit free throws, limit turnovers and defend opposing team PG.

If Ty was true defensive stopper that we could put on the other teams leading scorer regardless of size, or rebounding demon like Morez then you could not keep him off the floor regardless of his shooting issues. He was not that as a sophomore. He was pretty good defender but not lockdown.

I think it is more realistic for him to develop an offensive game like Tre White - midrange jumper, wide open 3 pointers, cut to the to basket. And become a very good SF. If he did not significantly improve his mid range jumper or 3 point shot during redshirt then not sure he can be starter for any top 20 program.

Basically talk to my agent or I already know where I'm going (deal is already in place, or player wants to initiate contact with only the schools they're interested in).

Keeps a program like Bradley from wasting McKneely's time.
I gotcha, that makes sense.
