I'll let the overreactions occur. It sucks for a number of reasons, but dad got involved and things went sideways. They have a plan and things will be fine. People can feel free how they want to but saying Brad is on the hot seat is a complete and utter joke.
How does Whitman turn a blind eye to issues the players have with Tyler and what he says to some of the players? Awful lot of whispers out there for it to be completely made up. And how can Whitman be pleased that Hamer is back after two years of, let's just say, *rough* defense?

I thought he made sense as the counterbalance to the strategy. You (the opponent) can't just defend the arc because you have Morez dominate the paint and rebound the many 3-pt misses, so keeps you honest.
I can see the strategic intent, but is Morez going to be happy playing that role? My thought would be no, and that he would prefer to get more action drawn up specifically for him.

I should've predicted this after "Rez left Rita to go to Thornton. I know the ex-Rita coach left, but 'Rez did not follow him to St. Laurence.

The guy giving him 2 million says he is worth 2 million. That's ALL that matters.

And, btw, this is ALL on Brad the way he used Morez. I said in January Morez wouldn't be back. You can look it up.
If you say I'm stupid...well, that's just an opinion, isn't it?

Brad is going to ask the boosters to pony up for another year of Ben with Morez walking out the door …

If You Say So Wow GIF by Identity
I hope they slam the door in his face. I wanted Brad to stay but now see that we need to launch him asap.

I love Morez and wanted him to stay- maybe his camp is looking for Great Osobor money and maybe he’ll get it but all of the 7 figure guys last year- did any of them pan out?
Osobor
CoHawk
AJ Storr
Ballo

I mean, I can’t think of one that played to their NIL and I have to think it’s somewhat causal- if you give college kids millions their priorities change and they aren’t as hungry. Maybe going to the gym at midnight like the ‘05 team used to do isn’t as appealing when you have money flowing in already.

I don’t know what that means- you want to keep guys like Morez and CoHawk, but I think if you pay them $2M you ruin them. No good solution to this mess of a portal era. I guess stick to guys that are undervalued and get the overseas guys who are focused on the NBA so won’t loose motivation? I don’t know how you do it as a coach in this era

I sure hope you get paid for all the PR spin you do for the Illinois basketball program.

Rez should have been on the floor at the end of games the second half of the season!

Not sure any reasonable person would say Brad is on the hot seat but I think a lot are saying he has made some obviously questionable decisions over the years. The latest is Ben's playing time and retention.

Guess we are now a football school..... think I will skip BB season tickets now for sure and buy football tickets.. Leave it up to the NCAA to lack the balls to have stood against NIL and set some ground rules.. Nah that would be like actually punishing NC.

Think I need a long break see you in August.

I think it’s starting to be more and more clear that some insiders feed us information the staff wants put out there and others are telling us the real deal…….
"If the product is free, you are the product"

Which applies to our entire soothsayer spin doctor class around here of course, to parse between that fog is a fool's errand.

I don't understand why we've repeatedly seen guys with everything going for them going into their sophomore year leave anyway. I figured Adam Miller and Jayden Epps were isolated incidents, but at some point it's a pattern.
My best guess (other than relationship and behind the scenes issues) is that you get the primary player from a team and especially as a young kid it is hard to adjust to a reduced role and adapt well within a year. That's why the norm used to be if you weren't a one and done it is hard for a freshman to get a lot of tick on a good team. This is even more apparent with more competition for that role with older transfers.

Then at the end of the season when you have 15+ schools calling offering you more NIL and promising you a bigger role its hard for them not to jump on it. Its not a fun reality to live in but its new age cbb.

These kids can barely commit to a high school that is bringing in no money for these kids , so to act like they will stay loyal in cbb after just only one season with a school when theres a better paying offer out there. Its like if you worked for a company for a year then a competitor called and offered you 2x your salary , thats hard to turn down.

I’m kinda just done with Blunderwood at this point. He’s an awful game coach and this total roster flip each year just makes it not worth watching.

It's supposed to work that way. But when you're spending most of your time setting screens up top and the defense has zero respect for your shot on the roll, there's not much to guard. Inside five feet is a different story.

I don't care what anyone says, Morez is a 5. He'll always be that. If Illinois wants to run an offense with 5 out then your "big" needs to be able to put it on the deck outside 20 feet and make the other team at least think about them being a threat. How many of the teams left have a traditional big starting at the 5?
