That's great...maybe Green St McDonalds can give him an NIL deal.

Also, did you guys know that the team fighting Illini university website that if you look at players pages next to their names there is a "$: if you click it you can book the player for a gig or to sign items ect.. I thought it was cool when I saw that and the different amounts players want. KJ to sign starts at $42 and Kylan $123.00. Anyway I may have to get a ball signed by a few for the man cave or my grandsons.

Movie promo guy voice:

Brad Underwood was a high profile college coach until a new rule changed everything. After he got fired for missing the big dance he started his own bed and breakfast.

One fateful night, a big storm canceled all flights and caused AJ, the big recruit he missed out on to show up at his bnb with his new team. That night the entire coaching staff got terrible food poisoning and were hospitalized.

The big game was two nights away and Brad and AJ, who was benched, band together to try to win the championship. Can both player and coach get checked in before it's too late?

Find out in the sports thriller of the year "Checked Out" starring Brad Underwood and AJ Storr. And featuring Buddy the Dog from Air Bud as Bill Self and Mose Schrute as Hunter Dickinson.
Matthew Nicholson is the true Mose Schrute.
Hunter is currently taking a star turn in Disney's reboot of The Black Hole.

From what I’ve heard … Both are likely to enter the draft to get feedback … Both are likely to enter the portal …

Again that’s subject to change but that’s based off what I’ve been told as of today …
Indy - what are your thoughts on Tomi going elsewhere? I get certain guys having complaints w/PT, their roles, etc., but Tomi seemed to have been given his dream role last year with us. I recall reading that on his Euro team he was discouraged from shooting 3s to some degree, and he certainly had the green light with us. Is this simply a negotiation tactic to get more money or is he actually looking for something different from what we offered?? Is he just looking for stability for his remaining 1-2 years in college and he didn't get that in our program? That's the only guess I can come up with.

As of last night, both Tomi and Kylan talked with the staff and told them they are coming back. Tomi's deal is pretty much done, just working on some small details. Both are locked in barring something crazy changing. The staff is working their assess off in the portal right now. OA is getting close with a couple of bigs, they have a wing targets in mind along with Dix (decision expected later this week), and things with Sarr are still looking very positive. DGL should be entering soon, Ty still up in the air. Will see on Jake/Ben. Should start to get commitments soon.

I wouldn't be shocked to see Tomi declare just to get feedback, but highly likely he's back.
Thanks for your insight on Tomi. I was reading oldest to newest when I asked Indy about Tomi and why he would possibly want to go anywhere else as long as he stays in college.

You gave a projection on timeline for players committing or portaling. Any thoughts/guesses on timeline for when we'll hear about any AC changes?

Remember that most, if not all, of these players have agents now, and those agents will be looking to get the very best deal for their clients and, by default, themselves. That means that it would be foolish for the agent and the player to not at least drop the possibility of portaling. With no official contracts to sign, the highest promise of dollars will likely win out.

Here's my hot take:
For us to be successful we should take no more than 2:transfers per year. More than that, and it's too much change to excell the following year, or on a continuing, year to year basis.

Then you better get used to playing a lot of young international players or freshman recruits. Even then, that will not fix the continuity problem delivered by the portal and draft.

The reality is that we need to get better at nailing down and keeping the multi-year transfer. Retaining Boswell will be a good start.

Hopefully this materializes. Recruiting and retention is insanely fluid, but that would be a really nice start to next year’s squad.

Lots of work to be done, but it would be nice not to have to start from scratch again. Hoping for the best.

Thanks for the info, buddy! Now I’m off to watch YouTube videos of Dame Sarr.

Blaming Brad for the obvious lack of character of the young generation is wild. I guess I’m pretty close to the age of these kids so I get it a bit more than some do here. You should see the stuff popular on Tik Tok.

The vast majority of kids would rather get their shots on a bad team than compete and have a defined meaningful role for a final four. That’s not Brad’s fault.

I mean from Tomi's perspective. He's a Fr. in name only. He's more of a Jr in reality. He may be saying, I've only got so many years in me. If I can get to the NBA now, I'm taking it. A 19 year old could be more likely to say, I'm 2nd round now, but if I go back to school I can be a 1st rounder.
He probably isn't moving his draft status a lot one way or the other. If he gets his conditioning and strength up and enhances his ability to finish in the paint, he could sneak into the first-round next year. The money is probably going to be similar if he stays or if he goes this year.

Does he want to play in a packed State Farm, and chase college basketball glory, or in front of 250 people scrolling on their phones in Grand Rapids?
