Get old stay old worked in 2024. Marcus, Quincy, Justin via portal. TSJ Coleman staying.

I hope Brad remembers this and goes with the older portal players who are physically stronger, experienced, and mature.

I really don't know what to think about somebody on their 4th school in 4 years like AJ Storr or Tre White.

Thats why I like OLD and not jump around
--Dix - 3 years at Iowa
--Sellers - 2 years Ball State, 2 seasons UCF (redshirted due to injury 2nd season)
- Big Z - UK 1 year, ARK 1 year (both with Calipari)

Hearing Iowa has matched the Dix NIL amount... anyone else heard this? I am afraid it will end with him going back to IC.

As for me I want the Venn diagram incorporating "Two r's in surname" and "Not from Rockford or Kankakee."

Tre was a higher rated recruit in the same class in high school and is a more talented, more complete, more versatile, just straight up better basketball player than Storr.

I'm genuinely surprised people are falling for this. If the insiders propagandized it as a buy-low opportunity for a chastened player, would people embrace Jayden Epps coming back? I have to believe no, right? Why is this different? Storr is at the absolute most a marginally better player.
I can envision Starr fitting in roughly the same role as Terrence Shannon Jr.

Epps would be what? A slow undersized back up point guard who can't guard anyone but can occasionally get hot from three?

I really want an answer on what people would think if the insiders said Jayden Epps had reached out to the coaching staff about coming back for cheap to become a better perimeter defender and give himself a chance at the NBA
I, for one, would not want Epps back. I do not feel another shorter guard would be the best benefit to this team.

Did you mean a chance at the G-League?

It’s almost more beneficial for a kid that is not in the top 50 to go to a smaller school and get more PT than to ride the bench at a P4 school. Prove something and get a nice paycheck his sophomore year.
I think it depends some on the player. For a thin big, like JJ, I think it did make sense for him to come here, redshirt and focus on building his body. I certainly could see where others would benefit from this plan.

For sure, and I'd be curious to see the xfer rate for those types of players at high majors. Even PU is losing them.

From a staff perspective you can't blame them for taking a flyer on 2 kids with upside.

Give me Storr over Sarr - older guy, and proven at the B10 level. People are forgetting - the guy averaged 16/game in the B10 and was a very high profile prospect.

Just because things didn't work out for him for one year and made some (presumably) wrong decisions, automatic pass - just an amusingly ignorant narrative.
Ha! Taking Storr over Sarr would be insanity.......

Definition of insanity: Watching Storr move from team to team, year after year, snub us twice, and expect him to be a model team player because BU will discipline him?

Bonus definition of insanity: BU keeps playing Ben H way to many minutes and Morez J leaves for Michigan......

Just a quick note of thanks to all of you who post here on IL.
Yeah, we have a rockin bunch of insiders, and kudos to them all,
but to all the rest of you, you put lots of great stuff up here,
and have lots of great thought provoking dialog.
So, thanks to you all!

So, Dix is Long and Lean, A Big Ten-ner, and Known for quick spurts. How is he at basketball?

Nothing shocks me, whether this be true or not true. Bidding wars for 19 and 20 year old kids at the "amateur" level.

Our roster won't start really taking shape until May. There were so many booms, then the stories pivot in an instant. I make that comment not to say anyone is wrong in what they hear, it's just that what they hear changes the second a five minute phone call from another coach to the player occurs.

The damage that's been done to college sports is irreparable, especially with no true governing body.

I think it's closer to Tre White. You take a cheap flyer and sit him if it doesn't work out.

In 22 if you don't miss on RJ, Epps, Clark, & Podz with CHawk being immature then Mayers not as frustrating as the 3rd/4th option. Even then he was 3rd team b10 and won us more games than he lost us.
Plus he likes to drink Monsters

Not sure how to build out a 15 man roster given the $ dynamics involved, but those spots beyond 8 players seem to be forgotten on this forum. Lots of choices allowing for some risks taking. Nothing more motivating than a talented kid who has learned some humility lessons and wants to prove he can be of value to a team trying to win it all (Epps and Storr) as well as project kids willing to trust the process and give it their all (JJ, DGL, Lee, Wagler).

Let's not lose track of the fact that no one has the experience of building the best uses of a 15 man roster....including BU and all other coaches. We, as posters, by all appearances, sometimes fail to look beyond rotational players, and, for absolute certain, never consider the purpose of the 12th through 15th guys. JJ is seldom mentioned here but if he has become a 250 lb. banger who can shoot, that forgotten frosh red-shirt season may prove invaluable...or he may transfer to Cheatigan after next season. I certainly want to see what he has to offer other than the mystery of hope because he may serve to fill that power 4 position quite well... or not.

So the bottom line to me is that all 15 roster spots have a purpose, or could have. And yet it will take a few seasons before we understand what useful purpose they can serve. Or maybe the problem goes away as the definitive answer will not be decided until sometime later this month as I understand.

That said, I still want news on where we stand with Bryce Hopkins. I demand it ..now!!
