N likely our fault! The donors at SCUM are tired of the Orange and Blue beating them so they are ready to outbid us for the player we covet.

I know it's still really early, but if what Indy Illini Fan is saying is true re: Sarr, this staff has got a lot of work to do to make this team better than middle of the pack in the B1G. I know you're the "positive" insider...are you hearing the same thing on Sarr? Where do they pivot if it's true?

I’m hearing 4 schools for Sarr …

USC, Oregon, Miami and BYU …
So 3 football schools and BYU, who actually hurt Egor's draft stock by him going there last year. He was a lottery pick in the 2025 mock drafts and now won't be. Have any of those schools had success with international players - there is zero track record there!

If I was Sarr's team, I would are less about where I can make the most money this year, but where I can be put in the best position to get drafted the highest next year. The KJ comp is the best out there - I would hope that would matter. These 4 names seem like just cash grab picks

"This guy is the top target and he's coming. Done deal".

"He is getting more interest now so its tougher, but we're still in good position".

commits elsewhere

"We didn't want him anyway and by the way he's a bad person".

LOL. Why do fans buy it?

Agree with this…

Brad’s in game coaching criticism falls a bit flat for me when I see these as the schools. And I think Altman is a good coach, but check out the top recruits who have flamed out in Eugene.

You're such a downer, Debbie, I mean Indy. I still have faith that Brad and Co will get something done when it's all said and done.

One would think this to be logical; however, as I look on the mock draft, the first player drafted from this year's national champion is the 20th pick, while Rutgers has two picks in the top 4.

I don't think it matters much where you are.

Blast from the past, but has there been any contact with JJ Taylor? Or not even worth looking at him regardless of how cheap he could be? It doesn't look like he got a lot of playing time at UCF this year, but his highlights look like he still has a decent ceiling. Nice to see someone driving hard to the basket:

I still think that Illinois needs to secure an experienced PG via the transfer portal. I like Isaiah Swope of SLU or Samage teel of Indiana State.

Some other potential transfer backup PGs could be Freshman Martin Somerville of U Mass Lowell River, Junior Amaree Abram of LA Tech, or Senior Jestin Poter of Middle Tennessee.

I’m so over it man. New excuses every year for why we miss out on players. Then new excuses to why we choked on the court. Finally have a winning program again while putting players into the NBA and the funds to back it up and now there is a smear campaign against Brad? What’s next, Whitman is gonna leave?

I can’t speak for others, but I appreciate the inside info from those in the know. The trick is, treating it as a nugget of information and not accepting any of it as gospel until the commitment is signed. And even then, in this modern era, even that’s not final until tip off. Even the most tuned in info can change when an extra million is offered up.

Get old stay old. My guess is donors won’t pay more for Sarr because he’s a first year college basketball player. They would rather pay for a proven older college player. Go OA!
I've thought Watkins is the best player in the portal since he was first floated as entering.

Will turn 24 in July and was averaging 18 in the ACC while being being able to defend and rebound at a high level. He doesn't have the same blinding speed as a guy like Shannon but he's a legitimate all American level talent.

I think his efficiency numbers can take a jump too with an off-season of development and simply by surrounding him with more talent than Florida State has these last two years.

Pair Watkins with another guard and you've got a lineup. Just add some assistant coaches at that point.

My brotha, please do not even float that idea out there, I think I would cry.

We are about to findout whether all the stuff about winning and coming home was just lip service. If he had been serious about Illinois he would have entered portal with do not contact. Instead he has agent bragging about how many schools have contacted him. We will be his fourth (albeit repeat) school in 6 years. On plus side as we implode on other portal options and Sarr it makes possibility of starting at 2G a real possibility for Miller (whether or not posters like it). If he had been here last year and was returning (see Tre) nobody would have had problem with it. 😀

I'd rather buy into every bit of that than do actual work at work. Thank you very much.

I realize Sarr will likely make more money playing basketball than Watkins and, if Sarr comes to college, Sarr may even have some better individual games. But if I’m a college team and I’ve got one $2-3M bag to throw at one player for a one year rental, I take Watkins and it’s not close.
Yeah...be nice to have another 32% 3-point shooter on the team.
