I should say … My expectation is still that Andrej winds up in the Orange & Blue …

Simply just stating what I’m hearing …

Is there a world in which the beloved are able to get Andrej AND Sarr? I mean, other than a dream world.....

If they don’t, to be blunt, I would have serious concerns about intelligence. I know that’s harsh, but this guy is good. You have to anticipate and, frankly, expect other suitors to enter the fray.

There’s some truth to what I bolded …
Brad has to own the bold, either way. No more excuses on this board or any board for having a young team. You have the team you have for the year and there is no reason to expect you will have any players staying for the next year in the NIL world. Assemble a cohesive group of guys and coach them up!

you get andrej... ace and monsanto

You have a PERFECT roster build around booty ball with andrej and +++ shooters around him.

maybe indy can confirm if this is indeeds brad/tylers plan and they finally figured chucking shots was no good.

One rare instance with Andrej Stojakovic where the recruits family has so much money that it might not be priority #1.

I truly think they are seeking the best fit and development, which we have an outstanding sell for right now.

So obviously money talks, but any chance Andrej and Dame are not just interested in the highest bidder?

Sarr- sure fire one n done. Focus has got to be on best fit for development and raising his draft stock to get drafted as high as possible in the NBA, where the real cheddar is made. I’m not saying that’s necessarily us and that many other schools don’t have a great sell in that dept. But chasing maximum $$ for his one year in college seems a little short sighted

Andrej- Similar to Sarr but probably more focused on development for NBA and/or pro ball as he’s currently on the outside looking in for NBA. Plus, without looking up the exact numbers I think can confidently say his Dad made plenty of money in the NBA such that maybe there’s less pressure to maximize $$ now.

I don’t know Ace’s family background, but his decision to chase a payday would make the most sense for me. Last year in college, likely not an nba player. This may be the most money he ever makes in his life. Even $200-$300K isn’t necessarily life changing but pretty close to it. Would understand completely

I can't quite figure out the argument that the players are not worth what they are getting. The only reason for all the TV money and ticket revenue is the players. Football and basketball coaches at state universities typically are the highest paid state or university employees. According to public records, Underwood made $4.8 M this season...and was paid a $335,000 bonus for the 2023-24 season. By comparison, the president of the U of I system makes a little over $900,000.
In the NBA, NFL and MLB, many players make more than the head coach/manager. Players using the facilities to improve their game is no different than any student that use classrooms, labs or the library. Add free tuition plus room & board for basketball and football players and they still bring in more money than they make. There are a lot of things wrong with the NIL and portal system, including lack of binding agreements. I'm certainly in the minority, but I'm happy that the players are finally getting paid a fair amount for what they bring in.
I think the silent majority of people support players getting paid, but the complainers who think themselves the true fans are loud. It's like how those same complainers want more upsets in the Tournament but the better schools bring in more eyeballs (which again tells you real life and what they're yelling don't align.)

You think that well is bottomless? I don't think so. And the quality of play has suffered immensely since NIL came into existence. I think very few are against players sharing in the revenue that they most certainly help generate. But to say some of these players are worth more than many, many professional players? Come on, man. The golden goose is currently being hacked to death.

And as for the coaches and university presidents, yes, they are highly compensated. Some would say over compensated in many cases. But they have also paid their dues, worked their way up, and gained experience/knowledge over DECADES. They are professionals that have ascended to the highest level of their PROFESSION. There is one coach and one president vs 10-15 players. Apples and oranges, IMO.
