Sanders..still awaiting the call...who wants the baggage....
I just don’t buy that narrative. I think he’s a good college QB with flaws who got way overhyped because of the whole Deion thing. Is he falling or is this where he should be based only on talent? Plenty of good college QBs with flaws end up being drafted in rounds 4-7 and no one thinks twice about.

The “teams don’t want the baggage/distraction” of Deion thing is what people who don’t like Deion are happy to put forth. But how weak a GM do you have to be or the organization/culture you built be to think it can’t withstand a distraction? You don’t pass on talent for that reason. Sure if you have S Sanders and another QB rated exactly the same, you might opt for the other to avoid potential distraction. But if SS is rated #3 QB by a GM, he is not going to take his fifth rated QB instead. That’s just asking to be fired.

I don’t like Deion, but I really don’t think beyond some comments about his son getting drafted so late right after he’s drafted that we will hear much from him. And if we do, I think SS will tell him to shut the F up.

Beyond the stuff with Deion though there has been a lot of chatter that Shadeur was completely unlikable during interviews and managed to turn off every GM he spoke to. I think that has a bigger impact than his dad especially if it's leading front offices to feel like he isn't coachable.

I agree. GMs certainly have issues with him, but I don’t think it has anything (or very minuscule) to do with Deion.

At some point, the GM's job is to win or get fired. It's cutthroat. In the 5th round, you call the kid and tell him about life and how things work. He's not starting, he's going to sit for a year, he needs to keep his mouth shut and same for his dad. Upon agreement, you select him.

How much baggage does he have that can't be solved with that conversation? He's WAY too good for this to happen..

Here's the NFL.com draft analysis on Hyppolite:

Draft Projection
Round 5

Overview
Hyppolite’s career production is fairly pedestrian relative to the number of starts he’s made, but he has the kind of speed that is rarely dismissed out of hand by NFL evaluators. The more one watches, the more one realizes he plays with natural instincts to sniff out and pursue the play. It appears his lack of take-on technique and tackle consistency will be his biggest hindrances at the next level. A move to Will linebacker could free him from some of the physical rigors inside and allow him to highlight his pursuit speed, but he needs to prove he can make more plays in coverage.

Strengths
Made 46 career starts over five seasons.
Showed blazing speed for a 236-pound inside linebacker at pro day.
Solid job of recognizing and reacting to play design.
Good pacing and mirroring of the runner in his lateral scrapes.
Has plus acceleration to chase and tackle or close on throws underneath.

Weaknesses
Winds up getting mauled by big, climbing blockers.
Needs to upgrade technique with his hands.
Would like to see him make more tackles closer to the line.
Slow to shade his zone drops relative to the quarterback's eyes.
Lacks physicality and run-through technique as a hitter.

Based on the timing of the trade backs it really feels like one of those drafts where the guy they wanted went RIGHT before they picked multiple times.
