I think you could probably point to just about every Cubs player over the course of a 162 game schedule in the past two years and say, "Boy, if he didn't ___________ in game _____, the Cubs would have made the playoffs".As I mentioned before, this team has had a few 15 game stretches in both of the last few years that have kept them out of the playoffs. Dive into those games and they're losing lots of 1 run games and check the box scores and Seiya is 0-5 with 3 K's and 7 left on base or whatever it happens to be. He owns this team's lack of success more than anyone, and until that changes, I'm not sure why it's strange to be hard on him.
I was actually more concerned about his defense, or lack thereof, than his hitting. He's a DH now.
