I love that Ayo chose to involve himself like this. Illini Nation owes such a debt of gratitude to him. He took a huge leap of faith by coming to Illinois when he did, and I've always marveled at his attitude of wanting to raise Illinois up to the level where it belongs. He can rightly take credit for being a huge part of making that become a reality, and it's heartening to see that this is a mission he clearly still believes in, even beyond basketball. A true Illini legend!
Mike White didn't build a consistent winner, but what he did to get enthusiasm and excitement from the fan base, he should have a statue erected. Prior to his arrival, there was no fan enthusiasm about the football team. That's why Illinois was considered a basketball school. I still believe if Pete Elliott hadn't insisted on having control of the booster's slush fund, Illinois could have built on the success of the 60's and had a much better football team in the 70's.

Mike White brought in great QB's year after year. I will never forget Dave Wilson, down something like 42-3 at OSU at half, killing the second half and nearly pulling off the win. Bloody amazing. Would have been something if Mike White could have stayed for a much longer term.

This will be our receiving corps in 2026 (if you can keep everyone of course): JC Anderson, Hudson Clement (yes, he has 2 years), Justin Bowick (2 years as well), Collin Dixon, Malik Elzy, Nasir Rankin, Kenyon Alston, Davon Grant, Brayden Trimble.
The Messiah and J. C., obviously. Not sure who else rates as a Superstar.
