not even kidding when I say build the damn Bielema statue now.
I was wrong about Bert. I didn't think he'd fail. But I in no way thought he'd do what he's done in the time he's done it.

And I'll tell you what, a ton of fans of opposing teams were even more wrong than I was. I recall the reaction when he was hired. They were laughing. They ain't laughing now. But I am.

is the conclusion simply that he’s best suited for the B1G?

not only that, but he's best suited for Illinois as he spent the first 18 years of his life here. Sometimes, things are just meant to be together.
Hes meant to be the head coach at Illinois even more than any other school in the conference.

I doubt it was his dream job in 2010, but by 2020 it was . He realized it and thank God Josh realized it as well.

Him retiring here will just about say it all. He wanted to build a program - Illinois didn't need a rebuild... we needed a build. Period.

No one was more qualified.

Hand up, I thought it was the wrong hire. Growing up in Badgerland and living in Madison during the post Bielema Badger years there were a lot of rumors about him and his extracurricular activities, and then he failed at Arkansas. Credit to him, he seems like he is a changed man and the absolute right man for the Illinois job.

Sutter question - how much is his brother a role in this and what's his name? All this talk about the # of commits, if you land him that'd be a 2 in 1 - and obviously you do it to get Mack no ifs, ands, and buts about it.

Failed at Arkansas.

Tell me, how’s Arkansas been doing in the seven years and two coaches since they parted ways?

BB was there five seasons. Three bowls. Won two of those. Exactly same as current HC. Who, btw, was BB’s OL coach for first thee of BB’s years there. So, after two year disaster of Chad Morris, they went back to Bielema ball. (Btw, current HC been there for five seasons. Three bowls.)

Aside from all that, I was most pleased when BB was hired at Illinois.

He left Madison after a string of three(3) consecutive Rose Bowls.

He’d still be HC in MadTown now if he had stayed, if he wanted to be.

Wisconsin’s rise traces back to Hayden Fry. BB is a Hayden guy through and through. I believe BB sees the Illini as more of an Iowa than a Sconsin.

Is absolutely no secret that JW wanted to emulate Iowa and Wisconsin sustained program success.

JW took an unfortunate shot at following Ron Turner’s suggestion re Lovie.

Cut Lovie Loose and immediately, immediately got the guy steeped in Iowa and Wisconsin programs.
