Note, there were a couple November Saturday night games in Big Ten league play last season hosted by non-West Coast teams-

Nov 2 - Wisconsin at Iowa - 6:30pm CT - NBC

Nov 9 - Washington at Penn State - 7:00pm CT - Peacock

Nov 16 - Rutgers at Maryland - 5:00pm CT - FS1

Nov 16 - Oregon at Wisconsin - 6:30pm CT - NBC

Nov 30 - Purdue at Indiana - 6:00pm CT - FS1

Perhaps it's possible again this season there's a handful of potential November Saturday night timeslots available.

I think it ultimately depends on the broadcast rights pecking order for a given week (not sure who has priority rights for given weeks). It is entirely possible that the OSU game is on primetime NBC. The USC game, I know that NBC already has Oregon/Penn State finalized for that week. I am not sure if CBS or Fox has the next slot. It is possible the Illini/USC game is on CBS at 2:30.

I sure hope that we get lucky and not have Homecoming again at 11 AM. It is nice to have the morning and early afternoon to tailgate.
My wife and I are getting dinner with Nicole Auerbach and her husband (my very good friend from high school and college) tomorrow night ... I will try to get the down low on which weeks NBC has first pick so we can make better guesses, haha. She also said she is getting to talk with Bielema before that, so I am pumped to hear all about that!

But yeah, the old perspective that earlier game times are for less desirable matchups - anyone remember the "Breakfast With the Illini" jokes from when we were terrible? :ROFLMAO: - is just not true anymore. FOX has first pick for over half of the weekends, and that pick is exclusively for 11:00 am to promote Big Noon Kickoff. So, for a given weekend, there is a 50%+ chance that the best game will be at 11:00 am. Also, at least through October there will be multiple 6:30 pm BTN games that are objectively inferior to the game in the 2:30 pm CBS slot.

My assumption for OSU was assuming that the top 3 picks will be us vs OSU, Michigan @ USC and Indiana @ Oregon with the two west coast games not able to be at 11am. I suppose Penn State NW or Iowa / Wisco could sneak into that top 3 but it seems unlikely at this point.

For 9/27, my assumption is that CBS will take OSU @ Washington given that FOX can’t take it at 11am. Big Noon will then be USC @ ILL or Indiana @ Iowa (hence my comment on potential to use 6 day window to see who wins us vs Indiana).

For 9/20, CBS has first pick and took Michigan Nebraska. FOX would then have 2nd pick. They can’t take MSU @ USC or OrSt @ Oregon because of PT so Big Noon would be us @ IU, MD @ Wisco (no shot lol) or a Big 12 game. IU won’t lose so unless we lay and egg vs Duke seems to be an easy pick for our game.

Just FTR, I think FOX would indeed try to avoid Big Noon Kickoff on the West Coast due to the time difference, but I don't think for a second the OTHER two networks would consider that ... they're going to take the two best games with their picks, which are already much more limited than FOX. If NBC has first pick on October 11 and they want OSU at Illinois in primetime, they'll pick it and let FOX worry about Big Noon.

On the Big 12 point for 9/20, there are some intriguing games that could draw Big Noon interest from Fox(ex.ASU at Baylor, SMU at TCU, Texas Tech at Utah)

I agree. Just seemed like any random sports talk show you’d hear on any random ESPN affiliate station. Not that they can’t eventually get there, but Lon and Pipes really had a special sauce cooking that will be hard to replicate.

Yeah the secret sauce I think was combining a big personality who’s been around Champaign forever in Lon, with a media reporter like Jeremy/Piper. You had a guy with a huge voice in Lon Tay, and the connected insider.

Now the show is Kurtis who really sounds like a news guy trying to do sports, and his partner is just I guess a “voice of the average fan” type.

Stevie J figured out there was a demand for a SMSL type show (Tate/Kelly/Turpin) that could be on everyday. But I think you need the “Tate/Piper/Werner” to make it work. Just 2 fans I don’t think works.

Agree on all points, especially the last part.

It's you......they are jersey sweatshirts the players got. They are navy I think the lights from the stadium and camera made them appear to not be as dark as a they are.
