Hawaii with two back to back mind numbingly bad plays...

Im sorry but if you make a special teams mistake and get the ball at the one, your QB should not be in the gun halfway out of the endzone. I don't care if you're a Run n Shoot team, that whole offense can and used to be run from under center.

My son will likely be a Cyclone next fall. Guess I better start looking at them as the non-Illini team I’ll follow.

And yes, first son went to Iowa. I couldn’t ever bring myself to go down that path for the Squawks.
I 'm confident that I speak for nearly everyone here when I say that had you done so we would have staged an intervention.
On this topic, I took my DC-area-raised daughter on a road trip through the Midwest this month. Arrived home last evening, having covered 3,500 miles in 10 days. My mom moved from Ohio to the east coast 20 years ago and my daughter, now 21, had visited my childhood home only once, when she was six months old. I wanted her to see my country before she goes out into the world. Got as far as Grand Marais, MN on the north shore of Superior, before heading back south through the UP of Michigan. An absolutely splendid 10 days with my only child.

First evening BBQ in Cincy on the Ohio River, second night at the Illini Union Hotel, third night on the Mississippi River in Prairie du Chien. We hit the Mississippi at Dubuque around 5 p.m. Friday a week ago after enjoying Galena. Enjoyed a beer at a brew pub on the river. On our way out of town upriver this upstanding citizen preceded us though a traffic light. The most appropriately descriptive license plate I've ever seen.

Outstanding! Also I wonder how many times it has been written 'back SOUTH through the UP of Michigan'...sounds off to a flatlander!

Well, we entered the U.P. at Ironwood (46.5 degrees north) and departed at St. Ignace on the Straits of Mackinac (45.9 degrees north), which is in fact a slight southward trajectory. Smart a$$ ;)

Game vs Utah will be interesting. Beck taking over the offense at Utah and Devon Dampier transferred in. Beck really good at getting a lot out of college style QB's. Kinda funny that he played for BYU but is OC at Utah.

Personally, I would like to see Ohio State beat Texas, and potentially take the AP #1 spot. I want as much buildup as possible on October 11th!

I’d like to see a mistakes-filled, turnover-plagued game between two teams who aren’t anywhere near as good as their hype would indicate. Perhaps a bland 13-10 final score that is less about the defense of these two teams and more about their combined ineptitude.

Hey… it’s early. Let a guy dream, will ya!

When scUM got blasted by UT last year... there was no doubt in my mind we would have a chance to win that game. I'd hope for the same with OSU.

Always preferably root against the teams on your schedule (unless for standings/playoff/ranking purposes). You want the easiest possible path. For instance - much rather play Wisconsin as a 3 win team vs a 7 win team.

I do not wish to see OSU look like an outright juggernaut and unbeatable.

There is quite a bit of parallel here.

- both defending national champs
- both play (and potentially lose) to Texas
- both first year QBs
- both first year coordinators on both sides
- both games week 7
