From what I have seen on this board, it actually seems like quite a few Loyalty folks are going - great on you guys!! That got me wondering what away game will feature the most "invading" Illini fans this year. In a year we play Northwestern in Evanston, that one is always the obvious answer ... however, this year is slightly more interesting.

at Duke
at Indiana
at Purdue
at Washington
at Wisconsin

Washington will probably have the least due to distance, but then again I remember a solid basketball showing for our away game there ... shout out, Seattle Area Illini! Regardless of how bad the Badgers could be by that point, I also don't expect too much orange in Camp Randall ... for one, they still have a very high attendance floor based on past success and also it will just be cold.

That leaves Duke, Indiana and Purdue. While I would have assumed Duke is easily third of those, it sounds like we might have a good showing! While I HOPE we paint the fake Memorial Stadium orange in a couple weeks, I can't help but feel like Indiana fans will get pumped to fill the place up and dilute any traveling Illini contingent ... also, the route to Bloomington is surprisingly indirect. I think Purdue, given they are bad and it's so close for many of our fans, will probably feature the largest traveling Illini fan base. REALLY hoping we absolutely destroy the Boilers on their home field in front of a sea of orange!

First road game of the year always worries me, but like Bielema has been saying, this team is different from all those others ones that came prior so that gives me hope
This game gives me hope:

Will be viewing this one in person. My confidence is riding high, despite the non-conference road record being disastrous over the past 15/20/25 years.

- We've actually had some very good road wins in Big Ten conference play of late (Penn State, Nebraska, Wisconsin)
- Bielema is now the head coach; things are different

30 ILLINI
17 Duke

We cover and the score goes under 49.5 pts.

Not sure what to think here, but at the moment I’m leaning toward optimism … just feels like we’ll be eager to pass our first real test.

Illinois 28
Duke 13
I agree it’s hard not to be optimistic, we have an experienced squad and if we execute, we should be able to win- but if we were looking for things to worry about

Luke- still showed some old habits of holding the ball too long and not seeing the whole field- would sure like to see him turn the corner and just start wheeling and dealing back there and let it rip or throw it away decisively

RB- none of our RBs have really taken over as a dominate back would be good to have Feagin really step up, we’re not a run game other teams fear right now

I'm a little surprised more hasn't been made of it but I bet this is a big game in Altmeyer's mind.

Diaz introduced Altmeyer to pressure. Altmeyer and Illinois flopped.

Redemption time for Altmeyer and a chance to show how much he's grown.

Duke’s defense is terrible judging from the Elon game. I’ll take the over.

I would also take Duke +3. Mensah is a stud
