That game will be on ESPN, Big Noon will be Utah and Texas Tech. Should be a good game but still surprised they didn’t pick the game with a top 10 team.
Fox must’ve had 3rd pick this week (agree that there’s no way they aren’t picking our game given the choice).

The media companies care about eyeballs, not rankings. FSU was constantly getting good timeslots last year because they pull in viewers, even when they are a flaming dumpster. I'm guessing UM v. Nebraska is the prized pig this week because of the media follows for those teams and both potentially ranked going into that game.

Why color code both ACC teams as the same as an SEC choice? That a third door. My interpretation from the above is (a) we want to go to an SEC game, especially if they are the home team or it's two SEC teams facing each other, (b) we will go to a Big Ten game, but need to be convinced, and (c) we will only consider games without an SEC or B1G team in unique or dire situations (#Calgorithm, Deion).
I was just color coding it that way because ESPN is fully bought in to both the SEC and ACC in the same way FOX is to the Big Ten ... it's just that ESPN knows the SEC is a much, much more valuable investment and thus prioritize them. But ESPN still has all of the rights to the ACC in the same way.

This is true, but it's not as simple as picking teams with the biggest fan base. For a given game above a certain viewing threshold (let's say 3-4 million), a MAJORITY of the viewership is likely from "casual" viewers who don't cheer for either team. So while big name programs are the safer bet 9 times out of 10, you will also get "stories" that involve a lesser brand but a more exciting game for the casual viewer. Indiana last year is a great example.

Fox doesn’t get the #1 Big Ten pick every week. They get the 3 top Big Ten picks of the *year*, which this year are Texas-Ohio State, Ohio State-Penn State, and Ohio State-Michigan. After that, it’s a draft between CBS, NBC, and FOX as to who picks where each week and they may even trade games or slots depending on network conflicts or needs.

So, don’t read anything into Illinois-Indiana not being on Big Noon. It looks like CBS had the #1 Big Ten pick that week with Michigan-Nebraska, so NBC might have had the #2 pick. The fact that FOX has a late night MSU-USC game likely allowed for them to swap out a Big Ten game for a Big 12 game at Big Noon.

Also it’s a “red out” game which will make it hard for us orange clad fans to stand out.

in 2008, my daughter chose IU over UI for art. ugh
IU stunk in football then, so I cant tell you about parking for a sold out game

the field is a good mile north of campustown. Kilroys is their version of Kams.
Their campustown on Kirkwood is decent. It is a beautiful campus.

I paid that school over $100,000 for her degree. Shes not doing art, although that was her degree,
Shes working in downtown Chicago in cryptocurrency. Shes doing well.
15 years ago if you told her she would never touch her art stuff after graduation and instead would work in writing software for a crypto outfil, she would have laughed in your face.

Today ? its all she does.

Thankfully our current shade of orange (which we “fixed” a few years ago from a more red-tinted one, IIRC) actually will contrast against their darker red than we might initially assume.

Granted, this photo might not be from a “Red Out” … but I think people forget how dark IU’s red actually is. Under the lights, you’ll definitely see some vibrant orange sprinkled around the stands if we have a good contingent!

I've got three strong blue options but will go with orange for this one. Not worried about unintentionally blending.

This photo got me thinking how RIDICULOUSLY good it would feel to just punch Indiana in the throat and win by a huge margin on their prime time "Red Out" event, when you also consider our basketball team waltzed into Bloomington and gave them their worst home defeat ever this year!!

You had me at "punch Indiana in the throat."

+ just putting this here because we should mock the Hoojins just as much as we do Miznoz. We can still use it, but the TSJ jersey banner fiasco kinda diminishes it.
