He does have that swing at everything issue. A walk is as good as a hit because of his speed. I hope during the offseason, he gets with a hitting coach who can get him to be more selective. I think he could be a 280 20 homers guy once he can control his emotions and swings.
We have played 4 elimination games against SD and we are 0fer. Time to change that today against Darvish. We need to get to him early and often. Get early runs which will get the crowd in the game. We cannot be losing by the 5th inning.

Watching PCA’s lack of plate discipline does give me ugly flashbacks of Javy Baez never learning to take on low and away sliders.
Why would you ever throw a strike to PCA when he’ll swing at 3 pitches outside the strike zone? Love his potential, but must have huge improvement in pitch selection.

10 years ago, I'd have been a mess. There is something comforting about knowing I won't die without seeing them win... That said, I'd really like to be greedy.
Similar process for me. My sports fan goal was to see 1 Cubs World Series win and I'd be good for life. Now with every other team I follow, I can just hope for the best.
Seeing people who have their days, weeks, years, or lives "ruined" because their favorite sports team lost makes me feel so sad for that person (growing up in Wisconsin I saw this often with Packers fans). It's just a game.
That said, I'd really like to see a win today.
Dansby Swanson is putting on a clinic at shortstop.
Inability to get a hit with RISP has me yanking my hair out.

Too bad there wasn’t a look from the outfield or any other angle not behind home plate. I bet they could have found a way to overturn that home plate call.

Good callout. Absolutely not. With all of the pitching changes, which started an inning too early, Counsell left himself an inning short. I didn't see a reason to pull Taillon after only 4.
Thought Council should have let Taillon pitch the 5th the way he was dealing today, but it all worked out in the end so who am I to nitpick.
