X is a huge loss but this defense has bigger problems than just him. Can’t feel comfortable in a single game this year no matter the lead.

The defensive scheme doesn't allow us to even if we wanted to. We play 10 yds off in a charmin soft zone where it seems none of our players understand how to cover the zone they're responsible for. We can put blame on the players for not making tackles and taking bad angles, but this is also one of the most absolute garbage defensive schemes I've ever seen.

You've identified multiple issues and you're correct on both. There is a serious talent deficiency on that side of the ball.

Purdue is home. In a rivalry game and had 2 weeks to prepare for this game. They put up 30 on ND. We are up 13 with the ball and only loss to a top.ten team on the road. You must be a young pup and not realize the job Brett and the staff are doing at Illinois.
