I need to buy a chapel bill t shirt before it's too late. I'm never set foot in chapel Hill but I'll make sure I have that shirt on when I do

Am I missing something here, or is the only connection that he was on UCLA's staff for literally one year and spent two more years in the NFL in LA? Lol, I'm not sure I would leave Washington for UCLA right now, and I'm even less sure that UCLA could currently pony up any more money than Washington could to retain him...

Fisch isn’t exactly on the hot seat at Washington but it’s certainly warm …

They weren’t competitive against Ohio State … And barely got by a weak Maryland team …

6-6 won’t cut it at UW … 7-5 (which is I think what they’ll be realistically) … That’s just getting by …

Never want to be the guy that follows the guy …

They have one loss. Remaining games: Rutgers, Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin, Purude, UCLA, Oregon. If they're going 7-5, it means they're losing one of Rutgers, Purdue, Wisconsin, UCLA.

It's interesting, there's a wide range of possibilities for the Washington team we face in a couple weeks.

If they can beat Rutgers and Michigan they could be 6-1, ranked, and on the verge of a big season (us and Oregon could be the only teams with winning records left on their schedule at that point). I think at that point you're getting the best version of that team and it's a very tough game.

On the other end of the spectrum, they could lose both those games, and then they're 4-3 and on the verge of having the wheel fall off.

Interesting variable considering that Washington game has a lot of importance to our season. Win that, and we are set up very nicely in the last 4.

I watch a fair amount of UW football because of family connections, and since Fisch got there UW has been so inconsistent. They'll make an amazing play. Then on the next one shoot themselves in the foot with an undisciplined mistake. Fisch always seems like a deer in the headlights wondering what to do next.

Belichick is a horrible fit for the current college game.
I gotta say, any 70+ year old man is a terrible fit for either the pro or college game as a HC today. Seriously, just imagine how many young, upstart, future star coaches are out there... and how lazy and cynical it was to hire a decrepit 'ole coot who knew nothing about the sport of CFB. I don't like to take pleasure in others' misfortunes, but the UNC brass who engineered this fiasco should be ridiculed and fired. This is just pathetic.

The root cause identified.

Except for maybe Pete Carroll, that guy is different.

But I don't blame UNC at all. It looked like a no brainer, bring in a legendary coach. Kids would presumably flock to play for an NFL legend. But as we've been discussing here, is Belichick really a legend or was he Tom Brady's coach? I personally think his legacy has been tarnished, but he's still an elite all time coach. Brady didn't play defense, and New England had some strong defenses when they were winning titles.

To me the folly was, you brought in an old guy who has never coached in the college games. Can anyone think of any college coach that has gone to the pros and excelled or vice versa? They're just different games. And yes I know there are a few that have had some success, but I challenge anyone to come up with more than a handful of names.

I had low expectations for this as well and was surprised that Bill Walsh quietly ending his career going 4-7 and 3-7-1 back at Stanford (after a 10-3 first year with Denny Green’s players) didn’t get mentioned more. And Walsh had coached there previously, made his legend in the same community and lacked any of Belichick’s weird baggage (girlfriend, documentaries, succession plan with his sons, pushing out a coach beloved in the community).

Success as a coach in college versus the NFL requires significantly different skill sets. Stubborn legends in their 70s aren't inclined to embrace the significant changes that must be made. When Belichick basically brought an entire group of NFL guys in, along with his sons, you knew it was trouble.

One allegation is that the families of one or two star portal guys got sideline passes. Now, I get that NFL guys are not up on the complexities of NCAA rules (a problem in and of itself), but haven't they ever even watched a college game? Have they ever seen a player's family on the sidellines?
Everyone of us on this board have seen this movie before and know first hand how it’s ends.

Franklin's buyout is like 58 million or something.

Fickell is done. I watched the highlights of that game and if that's the best that they can do at home against Iowa....
