Cignetti would have them contending from day one

He’s a great coach but the core of his Indiana teams have been the JMU players. Obviously Mendoza was a great addition but being able to bring that many starters was huge. Not to mention Ponds is being mocked in the first round so he brought dudes with him.

Ponds and Fisher we both all Americans last year. I’m not saying he wouldn’t win at penn state but I don’t see him bringing talent again

Going into the season the idea of Franklin getting fired was nutty, right? Am I missing something here?

1. If PSU doesn't throw "offer he can't refuse" at Cignetti....are you even a serious CFB program anymore?

2. If you think Belichicks girlfriend (emphasis on "girl") doesn't have a side piece(s)....you are so sweet and innocent! It's beyond a guarantee.

Maybe this is the time Matt Campbell finally takes another job. People have also mentioned Rhule
Until I hear an insider say differently, Penn State is a job I could see Campbell interested in. If he's going to move from Ames, I have always figured it would be somewhere closer to his roots in Ohio. The jury would clearly be out on whether Campbell is any sort of upgrade on Franklin (my initial thought is no - it's not the type of upgrade that a hire like Cignetti would hypothetically be), but if Penn State calls I'm pretty sure Campbell would take the call.

I agree.

His age doesn't bother me. Keeping his coordinators and being able to acquire talent are the two biggest worries.

Very conceivable that he would be fine moving on with a 7 or 8 year contract. What would be enough to make him pull the trigger? Is there a 13/14 million dollar a year contract? Will they also be able to pay his coordinators top dollar?

This is on top of Franklins buyout, Cignetti's buyout with Indiana...we are talking a 100 million dollar + commitment with that alone.

It's big boy money. Intriguing to see where this goes. I am always of the sentiment that a team has a shortlist they are very comfortable with before moving forward with a firing.
They covered up child rape in state college. Im
Guessing they can find the 100 mil.

if pete gets fired by the raiders, Penn st should look into him. Pete can easily figure out how to get personnel, and will work non stop as long as he keeps taking his adderall and chewing his gum

It would only be for 3-5 years, but he could win immediately. they’ve been wanting to win for a while

Mike Elko is another name that could make sense
ATM has top 5 NIL in college football? Why leave and rebuild? You see what happened to the last guy for winning 10 games a year. This hire isn't as attractive as people make it out to be.

I mean...Elko is based out of Texas, a talent-factory of a state. With deep oil and defense contractor pockets.

I don't see Mike a serious candidate.

PSU has tons of talent and tons of talent coming in if he could keep them(which I think he could)
Talent coming in would be tough. Most of the top 26 recruits, if not all, will have committed somewhere by the time the playoffs roll around.

No shot they announce Cig before the season is over.

Though with PSU returners and transfers from Indiana, ALONE...dangerous team.

Hit on a few transfers on top of that and OSU could meet it's match.

PSU wants Cignetti .

the questions are :
how much can Cignetti demand to leave ?
there is always a number to do it

can PSU raise it ?
Penn State has financial issues as they trim down their budget. They also invested a ton of money for renovations to Beaver Stadium. This will be interesting to see what kinda Dime they have for a new coach.
