It feels like the second X went down, Henry gave up trying to do anything defensively. And look, I get it. Losing an all-world corner completely changes the makeup of a defense. But, man, rushing three and playing to the loosest zone on earth isn’t gonna cut it—especially coming out of a bye week, for goodness' sake. He’s paid to solve problems, and inarguably, we’re at a point where he’s failing massively.

Fire Henry already and then we can take the next step.. Bye week and the defense got worst.. time for him to go if we want a real chance at a winning program

you know, to reframe things a bit, its actually pretty amazing we beat a really good USC team. handle business and it can still be a great season (not good, great) even if its not what some we're hoping for (including myself)

but yeah, the defense is terrible

Every team has injuries every year - especially Illinois. You cannot be in a position that one corner injury totally blows up your defense. Losing one player does not result in what we have seen this year. And having the player you lost in a game up 30 is further evidence you do not have the right coach in place.

This is not a great team. A nice one, sure, against below average opponents. And that is entirely due to having an absolutely pathetic defense. The offense is fantastic, and we are wasting the best QB we've had since Jeff George. An average defense puts us in CFP contention because this game was so, so winnable.

Bret has no choice but to make a change. I understand he is not going to embarrass Henry and fire him mid season, but the message needs to be sent that he will be replaced after the season. This program has come too far to accept what we are getting on that side of the ball.

We have to have something better on D than this? We really looked like a HS team today on defense?
