People didn't wanna hear it. They've talked about how every Illini team starts with a ceiling of National Championship and it's better to believe than point out flaws.

This team has looked bad since Alabama. If you can't see it when they're beating cupcakes then you'll be forced to endure games like today.

The team is lost, to many moving parts. Get down to a 7-8 man rotation.
1. I agree with this, however, we as fans are far too emotional over one game. If Brad is playing a deep rotation until something like mid-December in order to find the best 8-man rotation when everyone is healthy, that is the long game and I totally respect it.
2. As for lost - 100% … settling for our big men taking deep threes over and over again is ridiculous

I'm not saying a single call lost this game for the Illini but I'm actually perplexed how a shot and foul that took place after a shot clock error and after when the correct shot clock would have already expired, was allowed to stand as called. Once again the refs didn't lose this game for the Illini but the officiating in college basketball seems to be by far and away worse than any other sport played and that's across all college basketball.

Indy Illini Fan, so are you out on this team? I think this team is awful and will be bottom half of the Big Ten. I thought you liked the new defensive coach. I also thought you liked the team makeup? Do you not like it anymore?

Couple of notes.

Tyler underwood offense consist of chucking threes. When they’re not falling, no adjustments are made.
BU defense has always been suspect.
BU substitution have always been baffling.
Having Jake Davis in over Stoj for the final 5 minutes of the game is comedy.
Just sick and tired of the same ole rodeo.
BU I’ll always love ya cause you brought Illinois back to relevance but I’m ready for a change.

Obviously, there was WAY more than bad calls at fault here, but those refs HAVE to be investigated. My buddy just came over and he's an INDIANA FAN and even HE is pissed about that call!! There is NO WAY that ball was ANYWHERE CLOSE to touching the rim.

The spread was 11.5. TELL me that didn't influence that call and I have a pissed off bridge to sell you. YES, EVEN THE BRIDGE IS PISSED OFF!! 🤬

This team looks like they are not close to gelling. Just not enough time on the court together for pretty much everyone to build on court chemistry. Nevertheless, we had so many goddamn open threes and jacking bricks like I have had enough of it.

I recall a lot of back talk in the pregame thread when many commenters quite rightly questioned whether our coaches' focus was on the right things prior to this game. It's pretty clear after that lackluster performance who was right. We weren't ready to compete, and our coaches need to accept responsibility for the situation.

Congrats, your negativity was well-founded, feel better?

Observations:
- Such a frustrating game. We had so many chances to make this a game in the second half and just couldn’t do it
- How are we SO bad shooting 3’s again? Just two or three wide open makes and this goes down to the wire
- Why wait till you’re down 20 to start trapping? Our only run happened when we did it
- Never underestimate college refs making up new and exciting ways to screw us over
- !!!! Dan Hurley now and forever

We can't win if we can't make open shots. I understand teams have off games, but it seems to happen to us quite a bit.

But everyone was off today; they seemed tired or not ready for this one.
U agree with this when it comes to shooting.

I also think we need last year Tomi back and soon. I don't think it was as bad as many on here do. Even though Mirk and Wagler have played well so far. This type of team in an on the road environment is new to them. There is something to get old stay old. I think that's more about experience. Andree and Tomi and the young guys will play better. This was all new to some of them. This will make you better fir the B10 and NCAAs. I know these guys can make those shots they missed today and that was the difference to me.

Plain as day per what needs to be done. One team imposed their will and the other not willing to impose. One team completed on every play...the other played at competing. One team worked hard on both ends...the other hardly worked at all.

Yes, a few good things happened that were a bit encouraging....but a bit is not enough to beat elite teams.

Much to learn and mindsets to change. Does this team want to do that? No sign of that today. KB finally decided he needed to score as no one else could. Stoyakovic found out that he can be stopped...unfortunately at a time he was dearly needed.

Much to learn....but the good news is that the talent and skills are there to get it done. Big question on the mindset. Would love to see these kids get it and have a special time in their lives that will only come once. Likely they will never understand that....other than KB. There is a reason the Euros have a reputation of being highly skilled but playing too soft to respected. Would love to see those kids earn some respect for embracing mental toughness and imposing their will.

Once again, on a Coast to coast broadcast, the Illini lay an egg. There is only one thing they can do about it.

Illini seemed to treat the game like an exhibition at times. This team can be good to great in March, but there is a lot to clean up and learn from the barometer Bama and Uconn games.

Hopefully we see a more focused effort for 40 minutes next week, otherwise, we will be 1-3 in the Texas Tech, Bama, Uconn, and Tennessee games.

Positives:

- 2nd half defense
- Kylan
- Lineup that had Z, Lee, and Ben. Kept us in distance at the end of the 2nd
- Kylan
- Free Throw Shooting was wonderful
- Kylan

Negatives:

- Mirk: Love the type of game he plays, but his immaturity showed today. Some of those 3s were just bad shot selection and he’s got to understand those breaks to not do it all himself
- Andrej: Looked like he didn’t want to be on the floor
- Wagler: Like Mirk, his immaturity showed today. Totally liability on defense. Don’t want to see him play significant minutes the rest of the year.
- Petrovic: Tried to do too much today. Needs to get better at finishing at the rim. Distribution was still good.
- Pick and Roll Offense: KICK IT TO TOMI WHEN HE’S OPEN

Put it behind us. Beat Tennessee. Just have to learn and move forward.
