It's interesting that Lunney seems to be getting a general pass here.

I know the D was Bad with a capital B. I know the o-line underperformed (which BL seems to avoid blame for?), both of which impact the top line numbers, but statistically the O was not very good.

Because these raw numbers are leaving out efficiency.

There's a reason the raw numbers show the 81st most yards but Connelly has the offense as the 36th best and FEI has the Illinois offense as the 18th best.

Just read that Banks is on the list of possible HC for Toledo.
Local reports have him on the list of posssible candidates but doesn’t seem likely. There’s been talk about Haines from IU but I think that’s just wishful thinking.

Brent Pry will be Va. Tech's DC and Zach Arnett will become Ms. St.'s DC.

“I want y’all to know this too: If I don’t get this right, my career is over," the person leading the alleged meeting says in the recording. "Understand that. If I don’t hire the right person, my career is over. So it’s very serious to me… If I don’t hire the right person, in two years they will fire my !!!. And I don’t get another AD job. ‘How could you (expletive) up Penn State?’”

Here are some other highlights from the leaked audio:

∎ “What’s happened here too many times at Penn State, is they (expletive) settle for second-best. That’s why we made the move.”

∎ “I think Oregon are frauds. I think they’re not tough. That’s our edge, our toughness.”

∎ Player: “To be very frank with you, I think the biggest reason why players do not want to come here is we’re in the middle of nowhere, honestly.”

Leader: “Oh, I agree. Our fans, our people don’t understand. It’s a challenge. ‘What am I going to (expletive) do?’ Oregon? Have you all been to Oregon? Ain’t (expletive) going on, it’s a bunch of (expletive) weirdos.”

∎ “Ohio State is Ohio State. But (expletive) A, it’s not like they’re lightyears better than us, talented-wise. Just can’t be able to get over the (expletive) hump! Michigan (expletive) stinks. (Expletive) joke. Cheating their balls off. That’s real by the way what they did. Oregon? Their (expletive) quarterback was shaking in overtime. But we have to win those (expletive) games.”

∎ “Can I tell you a story about NIL? This is one of the highest-paid rosters in the country. From the money that is spent right now… Texas Tech is $40 million because of that billionaire is just dropping money on them, it’s crazy, it’s (expletive) nuts. This roster that is on the field right now, probably top-four. Now how the money is spent is a different story. But money in the program… it’s the strategy behind it.”

One of the 9 players must have been secretly recording then leaked it because they are pissed about Franklin getting fired. Karma :)

I think I see what the problem is… and it wasn’t James Franklin. 🤔

Yeah, assuming the audio is real, the AD is a loser with a victim complex that will hold Penn St back until he’s gone.

I spend time around decently successful people and I never hear them speak like that.

- “If I get fired here, I won’t get another job.” Loser. Does anyone think Josh Whitman is worried about getting an AD job?

- “I think Oregon is soft.” You mean, instead of learning from Oregon, the team that beat you, you’ll call them soft?

- “Kids don’t want to come here because we’re in the middle of nowhere.” Almost every college campus deals with same issue. A good athletic director looks at the sell he DOES have. “We’re Penn State. We’ve won football games for decades. We can attract talent. We just need to figure out how to sell what we’ve got better!” Winners find ways to win.

- “Michigan’s good because they cheat.” Who cares. Honestly, who cares. While you’re whining about that, Indiana is building championship caliber teams.

He sounds more like a whiny fan than the leader of a 9 figure athletic department. I hope they keep him forever.

Yup… I had a boss once who said and did stuff similar to this and it definitely affected the morale of the staff. I swear, when first saw Michael Scott on the Office, I had PTSD because this guy was exactly like him (especially from the early seasons) except not at all funny. I don’t have to imagine too hard the eggshells that Franklin and the other coaches had to walk on not to bruise this guy’s fragile ego.
