What about our defense today? Have we had as many QB sacks and pressures as today all season? Great game plan and preparation by?
Imagine how many more sacks and qb hurries if we didn't go to a prevent defense when we got the lead fr

Top 10 seasons in Illinois football since 1966 (by SRS)

1. 1994
2. 1989
3. 1983
4. 2001
5. 1999
6. 1982
7. 2025
8. 2024
9. 2022
10. 1984

Ranking above was end of regular season, we've had updates from the bowl season based on how Illinois' opponents have done so far:

1. 1994
2. 1989
3. 1983
4. 2001
5. 2025
6. 1999
7. 1982
8. 2024
9. 2022
10. 1984

This doesn't include Illinois' win tonight. I don't think tonight's win will move it up further. Still, best season in 24 years.

I had a smaller version of it I bought in 2006.

Were there many new names playing because of injuries or those planning to transfer or those that decided to sit out. I thought they did a great job and get more PT next season. Freshman O tackle held his own.
Well the announcers made it known at least 4 times throughout the game that Tennessee #1 receiver wasn't playing but only brought up Gabe not playing only once they also never mentioned Bailey didn't play the whole game smh ESPN is a joke

We just beat Tennessee, the refs and the announcers. Does anyone have a post game pic of the Tennessee fans consoling the refs, announcers and their players?

P.S. Jordan Rodgers is as bad as Aaron Rodgers (but congrats to him on being a new dad)

I just want to add that it was pretty gutsy of Beliema to have the kick return team let them run that kick off back, with just enough time for Luke and Olano do their thing.

So I just sat down to watch my YTTV recording of the game after working my arse off all day. 26 minutes into the game and ESPN switches to Sports Center. End of recording. WTF????

Anyone else have this wonderful experience?

2 years in a row that I believe the refs let the players decide the outcome. Not many penalties either way. Especially holding.
Was Luke drawing them off on that dangerous third and six the only penalty called in the second half?

Game Notes

1. Luke Altmyer, you are an Illini God. Thank you for everything.
2. Best running game of the year. 221 rushing yards. 5.7 ypc. Four different runners had runs of 10+ yards.
3. Jordan Anderson has a role and is successful every time. [whispers] wish they would have given him the ball during that second fourth down failure.
4. I'm excited to see the SP+ update because Tennessee was rated higher than Illinois and the Illini definitely will have a high PGWE for this one. Should see a nice bump.
5. Remember when we would celebrate a single big win, like Lovie beating Wisconsin?
6. Those first two possessions of constant false starts from the offensive line was maddening.
7. Really good game from Brandon Henderson. I'm hoping he sticks around next season as a starter (at guard). He'll at least be a B1G average guard, but could see a leap where he's fringe all-B1G
8. Really good game from Nathan Knapik in a first start at LT. Staff had confidence in him going into this game and he delivered. Would be massive (pun intended) if the staff believes he can keep the LT spot as a R-SO next season. If Henderson and Knapik can be locked in for next year's o-line, it makes things a lot easier for transfer portal adds and identifying which spots will have competition.
9. Did Henry save his job today? Really good performance from the defense!
10. Defensive line had their best game of the season. Barna, McCullom, and Coenen all looked good and could play big roles next year.
11. I'll need to see the PFF scores on the defensive backs today. Tough to say without the all-22. I'm thinking they did better than what was seen on TV based on post-game comments and first half struggles from TN, plus the Volunteers effectively abandoning the pass in the second half (LBers struggled today)

What an exciting Illini victory to cap a great 9-4 season by the score of 30-28 on another beaten sec team.......Luke had a great performance in his final game in an Illini jersey......he should be playing in the NFL somewhere next season......he really really should.....

the run for a 1st down by Jordan Anderson was huge..........I love this team.............

Yes, refs were not even trying to disguise who they were rooting for and I thought ESPN was atrocious on the replays- like on Beatty’s catch deep on the sideline they initially showed a replay that showed what looked like his left foot hitting the ground pretty clearly, then during the challenge just showed terrible angles that didn’t show anything- I don’t know what the refs saw but it was pretty bad that they had no definitive angles of any replay. Even on the yard short out of bounds call they joked they didn’t have an overhead veiw when they showed one for Beattys catch (which wasn’t helpful). It was almost like the didn’t want to show any replays that were in Illinois’ favor

The bowl game before ran long, so the first ~30 minutes were on ESPN2 and then switched to ESPN. Sorry to hear that you only had part of the 1st quarter recorded.
