Coaching Carousel (Football)

Ben Johnson is way too serious of a football coach and football mind to leave a prestigious NFL team (Yeah I said it) for the current shitshow that is college football.
You may be right, but at the same time your statement is a bit contradictory.

I think it is foolish to speak with certainty or in absolutes about ANYTHING having to do with CFB at the moment.

Another example would be, "that won't happen, the buyout is $xx million!" -- It absolutely can happen, we're in crazy town and society is verging on having trillionaires!

I’ve posted this before. But this chart shows that the o-line was slightly above average at run blocking, but we had the worst running back room in the country. Not the B1G, the country.

Thad’s a good recruiter, though, so that will be missed.

(And he might be a decent coach too, I’m not sure, I’m not in those rooms. But the running backs way underperformed this year until the bowl game).

Just curious, what do you mean by the bolded? (I enjoy your posts.)

Watching Feagin continually lower his head and shoulders and hitting the ground, rather than staying upright and powering his legs through contact cost him so many YAC it drove me crazy.

What drives me even crazier is how poor he is at blocking …

I truly don’t know if it’s a technique, effort, or coaching thing but it better get figured out this offseason or Anderson needs to take some of his reps IMO …

I used to think that he'd have a better shot at playing on Sundays as an LB.

My thought with Feagin keeps coming back to "it's not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog".

Just not sure he has the mindset to punish people with force in order take advantage of his size / strength, regardless of position.

Totally agree with this. He is, pound for pound, the worst blocker on offense and people really expect the coaches to want to transition him to TE? Come on now…

I really think he doesn't like contact. There's no other explanation for why someone as big as him slows down at the point of contact on over 80% of his runs.

yeah, i'd love to see the yards after contact by individuals, just sayin

Or...he may be better suited at a different position than RB...
It might only work in video games but Feagin best role might be a mutant Darren Sproles type gadget player. Heck give him a lot of screen and some Hank Beatty's gadget play like wildcat plays, though it might only work in the College Football games.

I wish we could use him thst way. I don’t think he has the sticky hands needed for that stuff

Ben Johnson has no interest in coaching anything besides the best possible football talents. College football doesn’t offer that.

We’re two days into 2026 and Henry and Miller have yet to be fired. What gives?

He means that our RBs were the worst in gaining yards after contact and tbh weren’t super effective blockers. The OL, while not elite, was at least middle of the pack and had our RBs been better at either of these two things our offense would’ve been even better than it was.
Yeah, I mean I understood the graph, I just felt "worst RB room in the country" was a bit extra.

Haha, I do think he actually "played QB" his senior year... But it was more of a direct snap type of deal, I think. Basically a "get the ball to our best player every snap" type of deal.

Ah, Bobby Douglas. I remember him well. Had zero touch on the ball but could throw it through a brick wall.
