I thought Brad's adjustments for the guards against the zone were good... A little more Keaton off-ball. Let boswell try and probe, and Petro did well.

I DO NOT like Mirk or Z being the guys at the top of the key though - the back to back no look touch pass turnovers when we were up 11 was actually bs and ridiculous. That happened in another game against zone (someone help me out if you remember - maybe Colgate?) If we have the luxury of Keaton and Boswell, I want a bigger guard in that spot. And if it must be a big, I prefer Tomi honestly. I don't get the insistence on that one.
Mirkovic has poor ball security and struggles playing through contact. He does a ton well (and I need to remind myself what a normal freshman looks like), but his weaknesses often lead to empty possessions.

Minnesota a well coached team. They have some pieces and played solid. Only 7 players, that are not the Kansas 7 from Selfs title. Will cost them. That coach is gonna be hard to deal with in coming years. He identifies and gets really good ballers. Solid win.

Just gotta add: I'm in stitches. Thanks all.

Great minutes from Petrovic when we really needed it to close the first half.
While his defense still has a ways to go he did much better. On the offensive side of the ball he appeared to be a throttled down version of his usual self which is exactly what we needed to stem the tide. Him scoring a couple of baskets and helping calm things down getting us back to even at half was most definitely his most impactful time he has put in for the Illini this season.

I know. And 1 made 3 point shot changes his percentage by how much?

Small sample sizes… he shot 50% from 3 across the Texas Tech, Alabama and UConn games

It’s just something that hopefully takes care of itself via positive regression

Given his archetype and skill set on offense, he didn’t need to shoot a crazy percentage from there to be effective/efficient

The takes on Andrej surprise me. Like Brad said, everyone has a part. It might not be your night, but it’ll be your night coming up. One day it’s Tomi, next day it’s Big Z, next day it’ll be Bam, then it will be Andrej, etc etc. His time will come again.

Just love to see Petro provide a spark. He’s going to play a more important role as the B1G season grinds on.

And KW continues to amaze me for a young one. Straight baby faced assassin.

No issues with people asking for more effort, but to act like its only Illinois or that 18-22 kids won't have any lull whatsoever in effort is what floors me.

UConn nearly lost to a Georgetown team just now that is considerably worse than Minnesota, because they were outrebounded and outhustled.

That is just one example. You can find many more on any given day across CBB.
Certainly. But lots of teams are extremely talented — Purdue, Michigan, Michigan State, etc. Usually those teams seem to lose when they don’t come out mentally ready (i.e. Michigan to Wisconsin, Iowa State to Cincinnati today).

Our team on the other hand, has been said to have been mentally unprepared for almost every game in the past month. But somehow we can stroll into being the #1 team in the country over that timeframe:

It’s just insane to me the negativity here after winning games.

I was honestly very happy to pull this one out. This was trap game 101 coming off two emotional road wins, early morning tip, guys sick and hurt, etc. We stuck together and found a way to win rather comfortably (it’s not like we had to survive a last second shot like Michigan against Penn State).

This isn’t like we’re beating Texas State by 10 either. This is legitimate big ten competition.

I think over time I’ll just have to learn to ignore it, but the way some act on here, I just can’t imagine looking up at 18-22yo kids in that manner.

If you knew how much he was making … The takes on AS shouldn’t surprise you …

i separate this out from how i consume the sport and it makes me much happier. I'm glad the players are making money now. Sometimes they'll be overpaid, sometimes underpaid and that's fine. I'm also happy that BU seems to be really good at using the system and Illinois is must watch again.

Absolutely, that's what drives me to smashing TV.. If this is who he really is, a massive over pay. I want every gamei consistency. If its not your night scoring. Freaking rebound, defense, and assists. He dissappear in all 4 areas for games. I can't understand it. I'm happy that he's on the team, but when he shoots 3's and then goes Hero mode with wide open teammates. Those are turnovers in my book. Value every Freaking possession.

I’m surprised people are that down on ANdrej’s defense today honestly… not sure what you were hoping for on that end
Stay with his guy by fighting through screens, or communicating with teammates on switches. He was doing neither in the first half.

They both hooked and held during the contact so it was a draw. Players just need to stop doing it. The rule is appropriate and the reviews suck. All can be true.

I think arms tangled is legitimately basketball as it always has been.

If you tell our players to stop boxing out, we’re gonna lose a lot more on missed rebounds than is worth a flagrant 1

I am so happy BigZ joined his brother. The man has given us so much and is only getting better. Massive pick up. Most impressive, he is bringing it Every Single Game now. Him and Keaton are not taking any games off. If you would have told me before season this is happening. I would have thought injuries and we suck. Biggest story for us in years.
