The rules and structure of college sports over the past 10-20 years have shifted from a model that strongly favored Auburn over Illinois to one which strengthens Illinois over Auburn.

Auburn has a big and dedicated fanbase that really cares about football in a region of the country that has loads of talent, they will have their moments in the future and we will have our struggles, but there are inevitably winners and losers from these paradigm shifts and Auburn weaker in this environment for sure.

But anyway, I don't care to litigate Illinois Football vs Auburn Football, I am just glad Satan is gone and want the outrage of them being great at basketball (a sport their fans don't care about at all) to be over immediately.

2025 is locked, so here it goes:
from a macro view, our number is nothing short of shocking
Shrink the number of bleachers and and there you have it. We averaged 57,500 fans per game in 2025. Not exactly what the most competitive programs (save Indiana) produce. As for UCLA, they play in a 93,000 seat stadium that is not very easy to get to. That and a lousy team gets them to 45,000 per game (more than we averaged than when we weren't very competitive).
