Second half, last minute of game….clock stops on a made shot. The clock kept running for some reason….operator error. Maybe it was the Illinois clock operator.
Any case, not on the refs.
Chillini is correct. I have no idea why there was any complaint on the 4.9 reset....replay showed it was correct. Clock stops when ball gets into the net so no need for Cronin to be Speedy Gonzalez to call it. Rules are rules.

Another OT loss. We don’t have a closer like Ayo or Trent, and the coaching staff is not great at end of game situations. I fear we may have just seen a foreshadow of how this ends in March.

Missed a big opportunity. Have to figure out the defense so we aren’t scrambling at the end in a toss up game.

Ugh… 3 OT losses. I guess in the NCAA tourney just need to blow every team out.

Bad loss after being up 33-10

What’s your problem, bro? It’s not an attack on the very soul of Illini basketball to be plssed off at how badly we choked that away. I bet the same staff you defend is angry as hell and not shrugging it off.

Give me a break with that.

What? I am legitimately asking.

Is the crux of this being just pissed off, or do we legitimately feel like we’re worse off losing 3 games in OT and one at the buzzer because it indicates being bad in crunch time than we would be just getting blown out or easily losing?

Got no problem at all.

13/42 from 3. Most of those in the 1st 10min. Maybe some more points in the paint with the tallest team in the ncaa....
You beat me to it. We were 7 of 11 at one point and 6 of 31 after that. It's how you get a 23 point lead, then lose a 23 point lead. We were 15 of 27 in the paint.

I know Brad is a metrics guy, but this can't happen.

Would people feel better if we lost all these Big Ten games by 20?
No, but I'd feel better if they would win one of these OT games. UCLA and MSU should've been wins, but the defenses were horrible. They have the talent to go very far, and it'd be wasted with a S16 OT loss because the defense can't make any stops.

On the radio broadcast, before they inbounded, Deon Thomas said they’re keeping the defense back because UCLA doesn’t have time to pass and they don’t want to let Dent split the defense and get a layup. He even mentioned the Tennessee game.

I really hope that if we get in that spot again we put someone on the inbounds passer. If you arent going to defend Dent or guards closely because you are afraid of fouling you can at least make the in bounds pass difficult with Andre or someone. A tipped pass ends the game. We wouldnt foul them and at least that is some resistance.

Defense was laughable from the time we were up 33-10. Be the highest seed to lose 1st this yr and we are way to talented for that to be ok.

A lot of disappointing plays in this game, not the least of which is giving up a layup outback after a missed free throw, that just cannot happen!!

Actually, as bad as that play was, the end of the first half set the stage for all of this. Up 23 points and came unglued.

Then, live by the three and die by the three. That was the name of the game tonight.
Yep we were in the bonus with ELEVEN minutes left in the game. Didn't try nearly hard enough to get fouled from then on, course the refs weren't calling them anymore

This one is on Brad period….

Plain and simple…

f**** call a good play to stop Dent.

Why are those the two alternatives in your mind? We should have won tonight, period. It was our failure to lose. It’s not a choice of losing in OT or getting blown out.

The game was lost when we got outscored by 25 points in minutes 11-20 of the first half and the first 5 minutes of the second half. For some reason, the staff decided to ride with Tomi when it was obvious to anyone watching that Z was way more effective. Yet we left him on the bench for that entire stretch. We let them shoot an insane percentage during that stretch, many layups at the rim. Just baffling the decisions/lack of decisions made in game sometimes.

There isn't any credit for Cronin for the play. Hed been whining all night and turned the game into a free throw contest so everyone was scared to have any contact and draw a foul.

We've gotta get better about drawing below screens when on defense to get the screener to drop down and either be moving for an offensive foul or accidently screen there own guy.

I guess I don’t know the play, but it certainly seemed straight line drive all the way.

And just because it’s hard to pull off, doesn’t mean that should be the result lol. I always like a trap in that situation, and if the secondary guy hits a rushed open 25-30 footer, it is what it is.
