I'll beg to differ on the miss part. I don't think he is missed much. Again, I think you're going off some recency bias here. Anyways, last year's Michigan team and this year's Michigan team are two different teams. Did you forget when Tre was in the doghouse in the latter part of the season? We have good quality players. Tre White is not the difference between a Sweet 16 team and a Final 4 team. He is nowhere near the missing link. He's just another role player IMO who can have good games here and there
He just averaged 10.5 pts 5.5 rebounds, 1 to, and 50% from the field. He wasn’t perfect, but those numbers and his defense is better than a good player here and there.

Simple take, there was almost zero chance we beat this team with anything less than our “A” game. We brought out a D game. Maybe D-.

So the loss isn’t so much the concern as we aren’t bringing an A game on our own floor.
Three times now.
and this is after a really awful loss- even more disconcerting

Are you kidding me? He was tough and showed effort but way out of his depth.

2nd best players do not put up a +/- of -21
Oh, just found this in The Score app.

+/- for a single game is generally considered meaningless. Maybe it's meaningful for a whole season. But there are much better stats out there, though defensive contributions are tough to measure. Here's Torvik's box score:

And here are the season averages:

I'd even take BPM with a big grain of salt (especially for one game), but based on that, Mirk and Ben played above average, while Keaton and Jake held their own. Bos was surprisingly acceptable. But Tomi was mediocre, Z was bad, and Drej was horrible.

So how many euros are we bringing over in the fall because there cheaper than the high school studs

I'm less upset than a lot of folks here. Michigan is better, and they proved it. I could have done without the wheels coming off in the second half, but the margin is ultimately not that important. Tip of the hat to Michigan and Morez, and I hope to never play them again. The UCLA and Wisconsin losses will prove far costlier than this one. As ever, this team can make the Final Four with the right match-ups, but they've played themselves into a really tough spot - probably going through a 1 and a 2 to try to get to Indy.

Bad news - We rely on the three to win
Bad news - 9/29 won't get it done
Good news - This team is capable of a 16/35 night, which wins this game.

It's who we are. Let's hope for some hot shooting coming down the stretch.
I totally agree. But to expect that kind of shooting over a 6 game stretch when succeeding next game the defense will get better is hard to fathom. In the 2005 championship game Illinois had a poor shooting night from behind the arc.

I’ll say one last thing. I’m shocked the amount of people that say Michigan is the better team, okay maybe they are but not by this much. We got blown out at home, it wasn’t even close. We played AWFUL on both ends of the floor. You have to be able to win these types of games in order to get to the final game of the season and as of now we don’t look the part. We rolled over hard. Not one player played hard, zero leadership, zero energy. Underwood sat on the bench and pouted and made zero changes. I’m just not good with that, I’m tired of hearing credit to the other team. Now this team is going to learn a lesson from this? It’s the end of the season, lessons should be learned. The lesson was supposed to be learned from the ucla game. I had high hopes for this team and still do but come on.

2-4?? With a team that other coaches and media saying can win it all? That’s COACHING. Have your players ready to play.
Tonight, Michigan was clearly the better team in all areas. And they stuck it to us defensively all night. We could argue until the end of time as to why.

But there is no denying that.

The largers question is, how do we adjust? And what I can tell you is we really don't need much adjustment. We need to watch the film. Too much standing offensvely and no movement to the glass weakside.

Defensively, we have to (1) either force the dribble away from the lane OR (2) play zone.

Finally we didn't roll over. We had 30 rebounds and 12 FTs - we couldn't beat 14 of the 18 B1G teams with those numbers. We didn't move off the ball offensively. We had 9 (yes, 9) assists. Not certain what that was about.

The long winning streak was a bit of fools gold. The best wins were at PU and At Nebby. Both of those have fallen off since those games. And PU took a generational heater from Wagler. I bought the hype in the moment but it was a mirage.
Just curious — AFTER Duke, Michigan, Arizona — how many of these teams do you think have better wins?

UCONN: neutral Illinois, neutral BYU, neutral Florida, @Kansas, home St John’s

Houston: neutral Arkansas, home Texas Tech, @BYU

Florida: home Alabama, home Tennessee, @Vanderbilt

Iowa State: home Houston, home Kansas, @Purdue, neutral St John’s

Kansas: home Arizona, home Iowa State, home Houston, neutral Tennessee, @Texas Tech, home BYU

Gonzaga: neutral Alabama, neutral Kentucky

Purdue: @Alabama, @Nebraksa, neutral Texas Tech (also lost at home to Illinois)

Michigan State: @Purdue, home Illinois, home Arkansas, neutral North Carolina.

Illinois best wins:

home Texas Tech, @Purdue, @Nebraska, neutral Tennessee

So AT WORST ours is probably top 6-7 in the entire country? Pretty good?

I think I’m done with this team until the NCAA tournament. They need to get their sh** together and fast

From some conversations I’ve had it’s like 60-70% less than we paid AS …
To be completely fair, AS was brought into be a primary scoring option on the perimeter and Wagler has been better than expected.

I think if you knew what you were getting in Wagler then you go with White who is more of a complimentary player that can play defense and off-ball on offense. Feel like Stojakovic has struggled to adapt to the role of playing more off ball.

Michigan probably has the best road win resume. And Texas tech second with neutral Duke and road Zona - but obviously, that’s not really the same now.

But just shrugging off at Purdue and at Nebraska, and honestly Tennessee in Nashville is an example of not knowing what else is taking place throughout the country.

Which, to an extent, I get. It’s a lot to keep up with.

BU is on record now, per this postgame. He said he doesn't 'really care about the B1G title' he pays attention to 'analytics and the NCAA tournament.'

If he is hyper-focused on that, results matter. In essence..... When the rubber hits the road come the weeks after selection Sunday, we'll see what he's really made of as a coach.

Michigan is the only team with more q1A wins than us

Duke has 6 and Arizona has 5

We have 6

So yes, good

And the 2022 team that ppl seem to think is so much tougher than this team bc it’s soft…had 4

Agreed. I think a number of people on here are happy to get to the 2nd weekend… I am not happy with that. I want to see another final 4 at the very least and we don’t have the front court players to accomplish that this year. We haven’t had those type of front court athletes in a few years. Our offense is reliant on our bigs hitting 3’s. They play away from the basket. I would like to see players who can score down low when we need a basket.
Bravo.

I am sick and tired of the analytics BS …

THE only way we get looks inside is back downs … Booty ball … Domask style …

We have ZERO set plays to get a dang look inside !!!!!!!!!

What are the out of bounds/inbounds plays ???

DO WE RUN ANY PLAYS ?!?!??!??!

Infuriating !!!!! 50 f’ing coaches on this staff … We are paying them MILLIONS … And not a gosh dang ONE of them can draw up an f’ing play ???

UNACCEPTABLE !!!!!!!!!!!!
You are on a roll tonight and so correct. Michigan was quick, physical, and executed picks, slips, and plays very well. Their coach had them ready to play.

Yes. Keaton dropped 46pts for us to scrape out a win. Several other ranked teams went into Mackey this year and didn’t need a generational performance to eek out a win.

At worst top 7. At best top 5.

I think Kansas's are definitely better. Toss up between Iowa State's and UConn's.

We took one on the chin tonight. We knew Morez would show. We knew they would body up Wagler. We didn't hit shots and didn't rebound well. On to the next one.
And we were not ready for it (Morez) after having extra time to prepare. They punched in the mouth the very first play and didn’t stop.

#373
Still think Morez is a traitor and a sellout but he brought it tonight and was cold blooded. He did not let the crowd impact his gameplay. He's a good player and our fanbase is not happy that he sold his soul for the almighty dollar but that's college athletics for you.
I am 65 and retired. I spent my whole career workiing for the highest bidder. No regrets.

KJs game suffered last year once teams started focusing on and bullying him to get the ball to anyone else, deja vu with Keaton recently.
