Everyone saying we need this version of Andre for the rest of the season. This is the same Andre, he has always destroyed Q3 opponents all year long.
I mean, for one thing Altman has been a terrific coach for a long time including the period since Groce was fired.Remember when Groce was fired, many on here wanted Altman as our HC? How's that lookin' now?
He has made more F4 and E8 than Brad... and hasn't had under a 20 win season since 2010...Remember when Groce was fired, many on here wanted Altman as our HC? How's that lookin' now?
I am hoping to hear this simple analysis from you on Sunday 3/8, Friday 3/13, Saturday 3/14, Sunday 3/15, and beyond. He was ELITE last night …
their entire team is injured. the guy won 20 games ever year except this year. there are a lot of bad "we should hire this guy" takes but Dana altman isn't one of them. this is coming from someone who didn't want him when the name came up originally but proof is there... the guy can coach.Remember when Groce was fired, many on here wanted Altman as our HC? I agree about the 3s. Open looks from our better shooters (KW, JD, DM, and BH) are generally good shots regardless of the shot clock. T, Z, Bos, and AS are all in deep enough slumps that I wouldn't say the same for them, unless there are specific locations where they're better (corner?). Context is obviously important, like whether we should be bleeding the clock or attacking a guy in foul trouble, etc.Again with the revisionist history. Illinois shoots 3's a lot, which leads to the most efficient offense in basketball.
During the run in the last 10 minutes of the half, Illinois was 6-8 from 3 (opened 1-7). After they were up 26 in the second half, they missed 11 3's in a row before Redd made one at the end and the lead shrunk to...26.
It's a part of the offense, lots of open 3's, and lots of offensive rebounds. It works when they're getting rebounds, and they're getting rebounds.
Heck, even in the Michigan game, that was Michigan's second worst defensive game of the season.
Yeah. 3 sweet 16s, an elite 8 and a final four since he’s been with Oregon. He’s a great coach who’s had a great run and brought in a lot of talent.their entire team is injured. the guy won 20 games ever year except this year. there are a lot of bad "we should hire this guy" takes but Dana altman isn't one of them. this is coming from someone who didn't want him when the name came up originally but proof is there... the guy can coach.
oh yeah he does well in March as well.

Of those last 10, I count 5, plus they would've gone in the COVID year.Is this correct, what I'm looking at in his coaching record? Says he's only made the tournament 5x in last 10 seasons? And lots of very high preseason rankings where they ended the year unranked. I'm like you and my memory was he's had a lot of tournament success... maybe I'm just remembering the FF from 10 years ago?

One of the seasons was the COVID year without the tourney (they won Pac-12 that year). The real problem was the general weakness of the Pac-12, which took away a lot of postseason opportunities. 20 wins when in the B1G is almost guaranteed a spot in the tourney. Look at 2017-18 and go 23-13 and not make tourney. Playing the Pac-12 did not help their SOS, and their chances at making the tourney in generally decent seasons. Is this correct, what I'm looking at in his coaching record? This year is really their only really bad season in ages. He really has been a great coach for Oregon.

I mean, for one thing Altman has been a terrific coach for a long time including the period since Groce was fired.
And of course Altman was purportedly the frontrunner to replace Self way back when. That would be a very interesting alternate universe to inhabit, almost as interesting as the one in which Kelvin Sampson had taken the job to replace Lon Kruger. (Jimmy Collins instead of Kruger, again, what does that future look like?)
Z played 17 minutes yesterday. That number needs to bump up to 20-22 minutes. He is a game-changer defensively.
The thing about Z is that he adds a dimension defensively that we simply do not have otherwise. Regardless of the shooting slump.Him and Tomi both are REALLY struggling offensively …
Tomi did great on the glass but we need one of him or Z … Ideally both … To get out of this shooting slump ASAP …
that was a concern I've had all season long.....I like having 3-4 options for pass outs when an Illini player drives to the rim.......Credit where it’s due … He responded very well last night …
The number one thing is consistency … I do like Brad not playing him and Bam together … Think that’s helping …
