It's never too early in my book. We obviously lose these rotation players:
- Boswell
- Hummer
- Wagler

I think we'll also lose:
- Stoj
- Lee
- Petro

I think Morillo will be a regular rotation guy. Not sure on Brown, and I doubt Landon Davis plays much.

So we'll have the following:
- Tomi
- Z
- Mirk
- Jake
- Morillo

I would guess (and hope) the staff prioritizes some athleticism and shooting in the transfer portal, looking at maybe three new transfer pieces. I wonder if @Indy Illini Fan, @DB11Headband , @LvilleILL1, or @FI_8905 have any ideas on who we're targeting.
I'd love to see Stoj actually buy in and get that year 2 transfer jump.

I'd love a core of the Ivisic brothers, Andrej, Ty, Mirk, Morillo, and two veteran guards. I know we probably won't keep all those guys, but I think that's a solid team.
99% agree (only thing is I want Jake back, too). I could make a case for all to return, but the odds of that are probably like the odds of making a FF given the portal environment. As Andrej goes, I really want him back. He could play professionally (I realize he already is) or he could try a fourth school and hope it's a great fit. Or he could strengthen certain parts of his game (vision/passing, outside shooting and defense) with a coaching staff that I think has improved his game, play for a contender and improve his draft status (I get that he would be a year older, but he would still be drawing a decent paycheck here).

I said not top 20. Lets wait and see. I dont see him playing meaningful minutes. The NBA poor dribbler, isnt posting in the NBA and cant shoot at even an average level. If he were 6'11 and had range and handles like AJ then maybe. He is in the same boat as Toppin at best prior to Toppins injury.
Dennis Rodman was a poor dribbler and couldn't shoot (much worse than Morez) but he had a very long and successful career in the NBA. Will Morez make an NBA All-Star game? No, but he can have a very productive NBA career. I think he goes somewhere between 15 and 25 in the 2026 NBA draft.

I can give a few names that IF they were to enter the portal, we potentially could have interest …

Whatever the circumstances in Madison.... Blackwell would be an insanely good get.

How about Shelstad from Oregon? He would be a good point guard option.

Should Brad try and get payback and poach Tre McKinney from Michigan to replace Wagler? McKinney has been up and down this year but he is like Stojakovic, a former McDonald"a All-American. Dusty also seems to be a "big boy" type of coach and is not guard oriented. Just a thought.

I totally spaced on Jake. He's a must get.

Can I just say I love Jake Davis. He has developed into an Illini archetype.

Years from now we will be here saying "what we really need is a Jake Davis-type player" or "if only so-and-so player would be more like Jake Davis was".

Physical development, mental development (meaning takes coaching well), role clarity, leadership development. True Every Day Guy.

And a wig night to boot (loss notwithstanding - darn Badgers)! Please bring him back next year.

It has to be asked & I add only for levity, is the Brumbaugh kid related to Brumby of Illini message board fame (original creator of Illiniboard)?

3 1st round picks in 2 years (assuming Keaton goes) will be a big draw for transfers and incoming Freshman..

Especially since all 3 showed nice gains in strength and conditioning.

Jalen Cox could be a good, athletic option for this team, especially with Bam graduating and IF Morillo comes in and starts at the point. I think I'd prefer Blackwell, but I'm guessing that's a long(er) shot. Orme is a huge no-go for me, mostly because he's not a great (he's good, not great) 3-point shooter on a mid team, and he's not particularly athletic.

I hope Underwood lands a big-time transfer; he's gonna need it with the attrition he'll likely see from this roster. Hell, just losing Wagler alone is enough reason to try to find a stud transfer. The rumors I've heard about Dame Sarr and DGL possibly transferring here don't fill me with the warm and fuzzies, though. DGL could be fine, but he's not the high-impact wing Illinois will need. Sarr will cost a fortune, and the juice isn't worth the squeeze.
