They put Yaxal on Boyd and he can't do a thing. Nice to have a guy like that, then a dominant force like Mara in the paint. He's in everyone's head who gets into that lane.
Yaxel is a monster defensively on the ball. Watch the games and you appreciate what that dude does.

He's going to get drafted to a winning NBA organization this draft and contribute right away.

Him/Mara/Morez in that frontcourt is unfair. Just 3 incredible defenders in their own individual ways

I thoroughly enjoy watching Michigan play. They got a lot of dudes and tough ones at that. Not looking forward to seeing Trey McKenney if he returns next season. Dude is the goods and he's hidden on an elite team of high end players

Donovan Dent goes down with a leg injury

In long sleeves on the bench after being evaluated in locker room

Tough for them to lose their two best players

He was playing sooooo well. That would be a shame for him.

Hard pressed to think of 2-3 guys in the whole conference whose better than him the past 3-4 weeks. And even worse, looks like a calf injury. And well. That's not the best injury to get in bball these days.

The last 3 minutes of regulation:

Tomi made 2 FTs
Keaton driving layup
Tomi layup
Jake misses front end of 1:1

Blackwell misses deep 3 at end of regulation

Last 90 seconds of OT:

David splits pair of FTs
David layup
David 3 pointer
David layup

Keaton misses 3 at end of OT

I guess we could say Keaton missed 'the big shot' but I think its pretty obvious we were in the situation we were in because (a) we didn't rebound well enough and (b) we missed too many FTs (got outscored at the FT line by 16 points)

EDIT: Apologies, just realizing we are both off topic in this thread... replied to you without considering we're not in the post game thread
Perhaps the biggest miss of the game was an 8-footer in the lane by Keaton with 32 seconds left in regulation with the game tied. We had a chance to have 2 possessions to their 1 in the final 45 seconds but took too long to achieve that.
Sorry. I too am in the wrong thread.

I pointed that out in every post game forum and chat I could find yesterday. He short armed it too. That should have been as close to a automatic bucket that you can get yesterday and he whiffed on it. This and the missed front of the 1 and 1 by Jake added to the frustration of losing yesterday. Either one of those get converted we win the game.

I’m not watching the ucla game but I just read above Dent is also out. Sucks Purdue will get a Q1 win in large part due to that.

With end of half/end of game situations, he's gotten into a bit of a habit of slowing down too much and not knowing when to get the play going. Getting the 2 for 1 was critical there. Now, you can't force a bad shot to do it, but part of avoiding that is orchestrating the offense sooner. I also think that his mind is made up that he's got to take the shot if the ball is in his hands, when a drive and dish is the right play.

That's just stuff he'll learn with experience and opportunities. He's a freshman and we're putting the ball in his hands, for on the job training, in high pressure situations.

Don't think that was the intent back in October, but it's how it played out.

This might be an unpopular opinion- but our current team could really use a steady player like Clark... Good defender, usually under control, defends well, etc... It's too bad he didn't stick around.

Florida probably comes back but this is the same Vandy that had this February.

What is that supposed to prove? They lost close games to quality teams? Or they beat the Alabama team we couldn't? They have a better quad 1 record than us and need their respect. Your dismissal of this accomplished team is silly.

Also, this is the first game I've watched Cluff and not thought he looked terrible.. So I guess that's good for Purdue lol.

Yaxel won't be able to score when he is defended by a NBA small forward. He will have a spot as a defensive specialist but guarding 18 year old skinny, not terribly athletic college players is not the same as guarding forwards like Donsic or Giannis. I will be surprised if he is a starter on a NBA team. I am not sure about Mara. I don't think he is athletic enough for the NBA. Maybe a reserve but probably overseas. Morez can probably play 10 years in the league as a rebounder/defensive player but he I doubt he is a starter.

Hold on. You’re missing the point. It’s another example of a team that seemed to be slumping only to make a run and win their conference tournament by beating a one seed. Some people around here don’t seem to realize that slumps turn around and how up and down all teams are.

After watching more basketball this week than I normally have this season, I think they really need to start calling the flop. I’d rather have to endure some flop calls that aren’t in the hopes it will curtail some of this. It has almost gotten to the point if an offensive player goes to the ground, there is about a 50% chance it wasn’t a foul but a flop.

Also too bad Ty got injured. I often think what this team would be with his defense and rebounding. It’s OK for a guy to dream, right??

sorry wrong thread lol. I must be dreaming 🤣
