From what I’ve read on here many times the discussion is Brad’s agent shopping his name out there. Could be both, but there is a difference. From what I read on this website, they try to every year.

I think most everyone on here would love for the team to advance in the tournament. What many on here are not satisfied with is using the Cub motto almost every year “wait until next year”.I think this assertion that people don't care about advancing in the tournament is wild and I never really understand what edge people hope to gain in arguments by saying it
Like Cub fans.Again you are missing the point entirely. You assume if someone isn’t outraged at not winning it all or going E8s and beyond regularly or even the tournament regularly they aren’t passionate fans. Early it was even implied they won’t be fans at all. My point is there are lots of passionate fans of programs that don’t have Illinois success and never will. But they still love their teams and enjoy being fans.

Yep. How many times this season have we heard "this next game will tell us all we need to know about this year's team?" The question has been answered over and over during the last month unfortunately. A lot of people don't want to accept the answer.I think most everyone on here would love for the team to advance in the tournament. This is such a baffling take that I no longer believe you are a real person here to discuss Illinois basketball in good faith. The real distinction to me seems to be more that there's a collection of people who truly believe there is a hard cap ceiling to a program/coach and we have a literal zero percent chance to advance in the tournament, and then other people who aren't that worried about it because they know there isn't some pre-ordained fraternity of programs or coaches who are only allowed to advance to a specific round
Absolutely Andrej needs to start. We played Ben and Jake 51 minutes and they combined for 6 points and 6 reboundsI have zero inside knowledge, but I would guess that there might be some differences of opinion among the staff on who starts and who plays what minutes. And it seems the offensive side of the coaching staff (Tyler etc) has been winning those discussions to date. Jake over Andrej, and Tomi over Z, are decisions made based on offense and spacing. Andrej and Z are clearly the more athletic and better defenders. Not an easy call but if iit was me i would start Andrej.
I would take Oats in a heartbeatFor me it’s two guys …
Nate Oats … Todd Golden …
Nate being the one where he’s not exactly been quiet to certain people that he could be looking for a move … One where he doesn’t have to beg to get P Murph more money or beg for more NIL …
If you told me today that Nate Oats is willing to come here … Which he’s told me multiple times it’s an elite job and would get him back to the Midwest which is what he wants …
Call me crazy … I’m making the move if this season doesn’t result in a 2nd weekend …
And we wouldn’t get either if we canned Brad . . . it’s a nice wish list, but 0% probabilityI would take Oats in a heartbeat

I think we mostly agree. We seem to be saying the same thing. Just a matter of semantics and level of disappointment is all. Maybe it is perspective. I have no idea how long you have been a fan (and I'm in no way minimizing your fanship at all), and maybe it is the fact that I've watched this movie over and over and over for 50 years with only 1989 and 2005 to really show for it. Yes, there are always exciting games season to season. Would just be super nice to be ultimately rewarded for over 50 years of loyalty at some point.ehhh. Sports dont work like that man, and you know that.
If you truly already knew the answer, then you wouldn't even bother watching next week. Unless you have some odd desire around watching something to purposely be disappointed.
This team hasn't played their best recently. There's real concerns on defense and health - probably too much to overcome. they do not look to be in the tier of the 1 seeds. But i think theyve shown enough throughout the season where i don't think anyone should be shamed into saying it's not even worth watching because we all know the answer.

When there are fewer days ahead of you than behind, and the days behind have precious few final fours, hoping for a few more final fours, and perhaps an NC, before departing this good earth is a natural, and I will say healthy, inclination.Everyone's threshold for disappointment varies, but if you're only satisfied with Final Fours then I suppose you'd be generally unhappy no matter who you root for
If you bothered to consider what I wrote rather than reflexively criticize my comment, you may have picked up that I am disappointed that we have yet to win one Natl Championship in over 50 years. We are widely considered one of what, maybe a dozen, of the best programs in the country without winning a single title.Everyone's threshold for disappointment varies, but if you're only satisfied with Final Fours then I suppose you'd be generally unhappy no matter who you root for

This is where I'm at (sadly). My risk tolerance is higher because I want a NC before I leave this mortal coil. When there are fewer days ahead of you than behind, and the days behind have precious few final fours, hoping for a few more final fours before departing this good earth is a natural, and I will say healthy, inclination.

That, my friend, gets old year after year after year. When we win a single title I promise to all of the glass - half - fulls to NEVER try to constructively criticize our program again. Until then......
Those posters to “consider what you wrote”, that will be for both you and me another 50 years of disappointment. If you bothered to consider what I wrote, you may have picked up that I am disappointed that we have yet to win one Natl Championship in over 50 years. Not trying to be abrasive, but any critical statement in here the last month has been met with condescending responses. Not just talking to you, but that is a fact.I agree with this 100%
I don't know why you're being abrasive here, since you're disappointment stems from failure to win a national championship instead of a final four, I'll go ahead and reword my statement in that case:
"Everyone's threshold for disappointment varies, but if you're only satisfied with a National Championship then I suppose you'd be generally unhappy no matter who you root for"
