Purdue, a 2 seed?

UNC is losing to VCU. Mark it down.
I'm not that optimistic but I'd love to see it.

My excitement is limited though knowing how badly Houston will paddle this soft team...

Self evaluation based on my bracket prediction...https://www.illinoisloyalty.com/post/bracketology.41757/page-26

Correct teams: 67 of 68 (had Auburn, missed Texas...but I did say Auburn was the most likely to miss)

Seeding:
Exactly correct: 37
Within 1 seed: 25
Big misses (miss by 2 seeds): Kansas, Louisville, Tennessee, Iowa, Vandy
Missed on Texas entirely

IIRC...after the Illini lost to Ky. in Lexington in the Elite 8, the NCAA tournament said they would no longer assign teams to sites where they could play in their home city. So why does Houston get to do just that? Maybe it was their home arena and the Houston venue is actually the NBA site.

I don't get it either. It's like they gleefully couldn't wait to put Houston in that spot. They aren't even the top seed. I could sort of understand that.

Typically, once you get past the first few seeds, the committee will look to place teams as close to home as possible while maintaining competitive balance. That's why a team like Cal Baptist gets to play in San Diego, saves on travel for those teams and it doesn't really hurt the competition.

As for Houston, they were the top 2 seed and got to face the worst 1 seed, just so happens it was in Houston, so good for them.

Yeah so what. They aren't the top seed. You shouldn't get rewarded or have any kind of advantage because you were the top 2 seed.

Man, that East region really is the prestige region. Duke, UConn, Michigan State, Kansas, St. John's, Louisville, UCLA, Ohio State. Just silly.

Also, anyone who says Duke has the toughest path is just plain wrong. So Jay Bilas is wrong.

It's only an issue if they're scheduled to be the host for the site. Last summer, U. of Houston dropped itself as host school for South regional with Rice University replacing it.

Also, people seem to forget that if the 2020 tournament hadn't been cancelled, Gonzaga would have gotten to play virtual home games in the early rounds in Spokane, though not at their home arena, since Idaho was the host institution for the games.

After the KY hosing, they said that worse seeds couldn't host against better seeds. It seems this violates the rule if they were to play FL.

I’m sure Houston is saying they’re owed a favor from playing Purdue in Indy last year when they were the 1 seed
