For sure, we are in trouble as it likely will never occur to BU and staff to focus on limiting opportunities for the elite Penn shooters and keeping their 4 star veteran locked down. Also, we are likely to only see a lackluster defensive efforts and continued cold shooting from our guys as they focus on their facial hair. Might as well forfeit as their are numerous Loyalty posters who predict failure rather than the nation's most efficient offense and height being too much for the Ivy champs to handle.

Man, some of the categorical statements I see head-shaking.

We will be playing Houston in Houston on Mar. 26th and it will be a nip and tuck battle. We all hope that the Illini will be playing at a high level on both ends. Meanwhile, enjoy the first two games.

Why does he have to be mentally ready at 6pm on a Sunday night? God damn. Sometimes the last thing I want my players doing is overthinking a game that is 5 days away. If he wants to wear a !!!!ing mustache, let him.

Have we forgotten these are 18-22 year olds?

Hope he proves me wrong … Should be a game he dominates on the glass … I’ll believe it when I see it … He’s only had double digit rebounds 3 times this season …

I didn’t forget … He’s an 18-22 year old making 7 figures … That’s a professional … Not a kid …

Not mentally ready … Shocking … 🙄
Stop it. The guy has the pressure of the world on his shoulders. Not sure if you've ever managed anyone, but you want a person loose during stressful times. He's exactly where he's supposed the be mentally. At practices and the night before the game....lock in.

You don't shut it down for 4 days and meditate.

I just imagine Tomi walking around town talking about 'taches all day and being late to the Selection Sunday team meeting because he was wax shopping all over the 217 and posting tik toks about it.
lol let’s hope not. I wanna see the twins go for broke and take the team to the elite 8 at least!!

Said this in the Selection Show thread.

This is an insane weekend 1 for me.
- Born and bred in Champaign
- Penn undergrad
Went to Penn while in the US Navy then graduated from UIUC using GI bill (couldn't afford to continue at UPenn)
Work at UPenn now, (started in 2004 right around that Wake Forest game.
Go Illini! I'd normally root for UPenn but not this time.

0% worried about Penn. Only decent team they played was Villanova and they shot 50% from 3 and still lost by 27. We will dominate the glass and the paint.

Vegas has already pushed this from 21.5 to 24.5 so they believe it as well.

As for UNC or VCU, the expectation should be to beat both of them considering their flaws. Let’s get to the Sweet 16 and reevaluate overall expectations then but MINIMUM we need to be in the 2nd weekend with this team and this draw.

Love the late Thursday timeslot, comfortably after work/school and the kids' practices. And I always prefer to play on Day 1 to (hopefully) put a win on the board and be able to enjoy the Friday games relatively stress free. I'm hoping Saturday would also be an evening game.

The Illini should beat the hell out of Penn.

Scenario: If they play the Tarheels, have BW give a speech, and then exact revenge with a double-digit victory. If this happens, the game vs. Houston could be a pick'em.

Scenario: VCU beats Carolina, and favored Illinois wins in R2, but it's a very close game. If this happens, expect a 7 - 12 point Houston victory.
Beating them in a round of 32 game is not even close to revenge. Maybe if they were the #1 1 seed and runaway favorite to win it all. Maybe

You can be a professional athlete and a kid at the same time. One has nothing to do with the other, the brain still has lots of development left. Would you say any professional athlete that gets a haircut 4 days before a game is not focusing on the game?
