Those uniforms with that helmet was great!
You know who has an underratedly terrible uniform? Ole Miss. Multiple different blues. A logo that has no business being used on a helmet (stacked and staggered bunched-up text?). Haphazardly switching between white and gray.
And that’s to say nothing of whatever this helmet they’re using for the Sugar Bowl is.
This. I think Ole Miss looks great
I'll agree Ole Miss can look great, but I also agree with Matt's point. There are certain schools who I feel kind of "throw crap at the wall" to see what sticks, and it comes across as insecure and like they don't have a lot of confidence our pride in a traditional look associated with their school, colors, history, etc. Iowa State sort of comes to mind here, and we were very much like this with the Beckman Era uniforms. Ole Miss looks awesome sometimes, but they're sort of all over the place.This. I think Ole Miss looks great
They can look good, but those helmets last night were awful.This. I think Ole Miss looks great
1.5 Million Loyalty Bonus Points for referring to Indinia and Alabama colors as…”red”.
Only One Color | 17 Schools
These schools very clearly only have one "real" color, and whatever other color is included functions strictly as an accent.
Alabama (Red & White)
Arkansas (Red & White)
Indiana (Red & White)
Haha, I absolutely refuse to ever use pretentious color names that schools pick for themselves. "Maize" and blue?? Lmao, it's yellow, you nerds.1.5 Million Loyalty Bonus Points for referring to Indinia and Alabama colors as…”red”![]()
For that school, I has been murky even in the days of Arch Manning's grandpa.
My very unscientific test for this: The Bones McCoy test.
Back in 1983, Indiana leaned heavily on the cream in “cream and crimson,” resulting in their most mocked uniform until the infamous Indinia snafu. Also, Ole Miss is "lucky" like Illinois to have two REAL colors with which to work ... why go and fix something that isn't broken?? For the purpose of the list below, I will define "real" colors as ones that are not white, with some admittedly subjective exceptions. For example, black is clearly a "real color" along with yellow for Iowa, but in the case of Georgia it is very clearly more of an accent, IMO. Gold and darker grays will count as "semi-accent" colors, especially depending on how they are used (e.g., Purdue uses a type of gold in a way that makes it seem more like they have two "real" colors). Looking at just the Big Ten and SEC...

In Between: Real(ish) Color Sort of Used as Accent Only | 5 Schools
My thought in this category is would the team ever have a jersey in either football or basketball in the accent color? Or is it pretty much always an accent to the primary color? For example, UCLA never wears gold/yellow in anything, and Maryland clearly prioritizes red and uses yellow/black equally these days. However, Vandy uses its gold less than Purdue, IMO, so they are in different categories.
UCLA (Blue & Gold)
Washington (Purple & Gold)
Maryland (Red & Yellow/Black)
Vanderbilt (Black & Gold)
South Carolina (Maroon & Black/White)
Two Real / Bold Colors | 12 Schools
These schools very clearly consider both colors to be primary to their brands and utilize both regularly.
Auburn (Navy & Orange)
Illinois (Navy & Orange)
Florida (Blue & Orange)
Michigan (Navy & Yellow)
Ole Miss (Blue & Red)
Oregon (Green & Yellow)
USC (Red & Yellow)
Minnesota (Maroon & Gold)
LSU (Purple & Yellow)
Iowa (Black & Yellow)
Missouri (Black & Pukey Yellow)
Purdue (Black & Gold)
TL;DR
So of the 34 schools in these two conferences, half of them have only one color (including NINE rocking some form of red and white!), only 15% of them REALLY have two primary colors with which to work and Ole Miss is the ONLY ONE with its specific color scheme. IMO, no need to fool around with looks like powder blue and white (and barely and red to speak of) when you have such a recognizable look to begin with! Same goes for Illinois ... we should literally never have a uniform that doesn't prominently use both navy and orange, and that's why our current default basketball 1LL1NO1S uniforms and our Lovie Era football uniforms are absolute crap.
pic?Was watching the Winter Olympics and wondered if anybody else thought a Nike ACG uniform would be a unique idea we could pull off.
Feels like an Oregon type thing, but they feature orange in their branding and are trying to relaunch the brand. Maybe they wouldn’t want to muddy the waters but Jordan/Jumpman crossed over to football, could work with ACG.
Really hoping we make the change to Jordan brand, I think with the looks that the football and basketball teams have going on right now that it'd fit perfectly with what Jordan brand does with their college teams. Our Nike deal expires in the summer. There should be more chatter about this.

Honestly, it would be rather annoying if, now that we finally have both our football and basketball uniforms in a good place, we change brands. Our Nike deal expires in the summer. There should be more chatter about this.
