Ok boys it’s like this. I live in the QC right across the river from Iowa. A mere 45 minutes from Iowa City. When winds pick up out of the west the stench of sqwuakeye can be overwhelming. Sadly there are many traitors on our side of the river who are Iowa fans. They are the worst of the worst. Sore losers and poor winners.
I cannot emphasize enough the miserable offseason I will have if we don’t win this game. I implore you to give them an !!! whipping they will talk about for years. For the love of God make it happen! I have faith you will deliver . I-L-L !

Defense wins championships and we may have just figured out the type of effort required on that end to be ELITE. Iowa is red hot, but that defense we just saw, with our versatility on offense….gotta like our chances to get back to the Final Four. Take care of business guys!

Unfortunately, I’m in Atlanta and I would have had to go stand in the TSA line right after the game ended to have a prayer of catching a flight in time!!

If we’re not careful I see this game script ending very much like their game against Nebraska. Nebraska led almost the entire game, had a good lead but let Iowa hang around until they got hit from 3. You know the rest.

We have done this exact thing plenty of times this year. We can’t get a lead and fall in love with the 3s if they are falling early.

If I remember correctly, this actually happened in our first game against Iowa, except we held on for the win.

I remember Z hitting two 3's in a row that game, to help push us over the edge (probably the last time he made a 3 as a matter of fact :p).

There was also a Hook and Hold by Wagler at the end that made things dicey. The Hook and Hold craziness seems to have gone away, hasn't it? 👏

The offensive game plan should be simple and focused.

GET THE BALL IN THE PAINT.

Whether it’s dribble penetration or utilizing Tomi and Mirk in the post, the ball has to go inside. They cannot stop Illinois inside the paint without significant help, which will open up the shooters.

Everything offensively should begin with forcing Iowa to defend inside the paint. Make them choose whether they are going to collapse off shooters.

Just a heads up for anyone who is already in Houston or is planning on coming for Saturday's game: The TSA wait times at IAH have been in the 4-to-5-hour range so plan ahead when you're leaving.

Maybe we aren’t facing one of the three juggernauts, but don’t kid yourself, this will be one tough game. Iowa is playing an exceptionally well and more than anything is dictating the game to their opponents. We will likely have to win this game on Iowa’s terms.

That said, play our game I like our chances. Just like tonight if we take care of the ball, limit dribble penetration and battle on the boards we will be a tough team to beat. Find and hammer the mismatches and don’t settle for 3s.
