Old style Big Ten brawl.
First, let us once again thank the Illini for such a fun and memorable Season. And let us rejoice in the Illini prevailing in this street-fight of a Game and keeping this magical Season going.
In a dogfight inside a sold-out electric atmosphere in Downtown H-Town... the Illini had to play a Big Game at mostly the ‘flow’ of... settling concrete. Slow and slower. The Annoying Slow-Birds were able to set the game at their pace and at times were lulling the Illini to sleep.
The Illini took a heavy punch from The Birds but did not stagger or panic. And the Illini showed that they can win regardless of what kind of pace the game is moving.
What’s the mark of a good team? You step up when you have to. Any way you have to. You deliver when your opponent is doing everything in their power to stop you. And YOU impose You Will on them.
Once again, Wagler showed he was as BIG as the Moment is. A roundball magician. One of the most fun players you could ever watch. God bless the air in Kansas City.
The Illini seized the game. Grabbing it by the throat and not letting it go.
The rising Sunday sun will glow with a bit more Orange tomorrow.
What a time in Texas. Bluebonnets showing up all over in every Texas field in Illini Blue... and the Fighting Illini appearing in full bloom.
The sweet, rarified-air of the Final Four. Breath deep Illini Nation, and enjoy...
And happily... MORE TO COME.
