One thing I gotta give Iowa fans is that they were less in number but were twice as loud as us. They were more hungry for FF. Gotta work on our Cheers.
It’s not that they were more hungry for the FF. The opposite in fact. Just like players can get nervous in big games, so can fans. Iowa fans never expected to play in the Elite Eight, so they just got to enjoy the game. They have a first year head coach who’s already exceeding expectations, so they don’t have a care in the world.

Illini fans, on the other hand, are in year 9 with Brad and we’ve had our hearts ripped out a few times. Illini fans carry the weight of the Loyola loss on their shoulders, so I can’t say that I blame them for carrying some anxious nerves into the game.

I expect the fans to bring it in Indy.

I kinda feel bad for Kylan lately. I think that hand has or still is affecting him, and he is just grinding it out, but his shot hasn't recovered.
Even on an off night though, he had those two reverse-uno steals at a critical time and then hit some late free throws in the clutch. That’s what I really enjoy about this team, one or two guys will shine, but the others that are off still Smurf up contributions. Ben or Jake may have an off shooting night but one is crashing the boards and the other is d-ing someone up.

I'm really proud of our coach.

I couldn't be happier for coach Underwood and Tyler.
When you think about it, there are sometimes some tactical quibbles, but he has been taking us to the tournament consistently, has two Elite Eights and now a Final Four, has developed four legit NBA talents (3 first rounders and a should-have-been first) with at least one more coming. He always gets great assistant coaches on the bench and he’s a great voice for the program. I wouldn’t trade him for anyone at this point.

You know what? Past tense now needed.

Obligatory "THANK YOU" to Trent Frazier and Ayo Dosunmu.
This make that white dude who is probably selling insurance now who fleece the all American Kofi for our 11am curse game feel a little bit better now.

It truly felt like two different crews first half vs second half. First half was very physical with few whistles, and the second half never felt like it got flow with so many whistles in the early part of the half.
Taking a step back, they called it tighter in the second half than the first. Also, the first half both teams had turnover numbers well beyond the norm but much closer to where their season-long reputations were in the second. I think the turnovers and officiating were related.

FF baby!

My wife and I were at a 50th anniversary this afternoon. I made sure we left in time to get home in time. As we were leaving she told me she wanted to go to dinner. ARRRGGG.
*Thought in my head* "She is more important than a basketball game. SIGH." I told her about it when we were sitting at the table. She feels more important so that's points for me.
The first half was kind of a disaster to no harm no foul.
We got home in time to watch the second half.

It was a win win.
You played that perfectly!
