It’s not that they were more hungry for the FF. The opposite in fact. Just like players can get nervous in big games, so can fans. Iowa fans never expected to play in the Elite Eight, so they just got to enjoy the game. They have a first year head coach who’s already exceeding expectations, so they don’t have a care in the world. One thing I gotta give Iowa fans is that they were less in number but were twice as loud as us. They were more hungry for FF. Gotta work on our Cheers.
Illini fans, on the other hand, are in year 9 with Brad and we’ve had our hearts ripped out a few times. Illini fans carry the weight of the Loyola loss on their shoulders, so I can’t say that I blame them for carrying some anxious nerves into the game.
I expect the fans to bring it in Indy.
