Iowa fans are losing their minds on X about the officiating, the refs kept them in the game.
Easier to blame refs than admit they got whooped on the glass. They literally had the same number of defensive rebounds as we had offensive rebounds. That is almost unheard of and nearly impossible to overcome.

So enjoyable to watch the effort of this Illini team.

I’m rewatching the game this morning. From the 13:00 to the 11:00 mark in the 2nd half there were 4 calls that could have sunk us. First was a miss 3 by Iowa that went out of bounds that the refs whistled out on Ben. He got 2 hand pushed in the ribs away from the ball. Iowa hits a 3 on the possession. The next trip was the Stirtz baiting foul on Andre. The next was Keaton shooting the 3. Gets run over and the guy who ran him over trips over Keaton and Keaton gets the foul. Then to end it Tomi gets a cheap foul against Stirtz at the bucket where it didn’t even look like he touched him.

Every fanbase has fans that do that. Ours included.

Read every Illinois game thread with our fans complaining about the refs. The VCU game was embarrassing stating how the refs are horrible against Illinois and VCU didn’t even have a free throw attempt until 5 minutes to play in the game and we had 15+ plus by then.

62 years ago, my wife transferred from SIU Carbondale to UIUC to be with this idiot she had fallen in love with. We made 59 incredible years together doing everything orange and blue humanly possible. I lost her 5 weeks ago.

I'm sitting at this keyboard crying because I know she is celebrating. ILL hon.

Someone is cutting onions around me. Wow your post got to me. She is certainly celebrating. I’m so sorry for your loss. She’s saying INI hon right back to you.

I’ve never wanted to be so wrong about anything. In my life. Part of my criticism is I care too much. I’ve seen all my teams win it all once in my life. Even the Cubs. Illinois football or hoops is the one that I’ve never seen. I know we are all in the same boat. I want it so bad I can taste it. I want it every year but the first one is forever.
And we ain’t get any younger.

So I thought, hey, Sports Bar. 38 TVs. Subscription to every possible sports system. I thought, great! I will be a manager at a BWW. THEN, I will never miss an Illini game. Guess what? I failed in my thinking... I've yet to see 10 straight minutes of a game yet....

Failure on my part.
That damn work part gets in the way.

I’ve been critical of Brad and coined a couple phrases. Blunderwood. And Underwood Special for those mystifying losses we had at times in recent years. I vow to retire both of those. He has objectively done his finest work on the sidelines the last 2 games. Solid adjustments at half. I’ll gladly eat the crow now.
Me too!

Centennial Illini,

I can only imagine how different the days feel without the person who sat beside you through so many Illinois games and so many seasons of life. Those shared moments don’t fade quickly, and neither does the love behind them.

Scripture reminds us, “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit” (Psalm 34:18). I pray you feel that nearness in a real way right now. Grief is heavy, but God walks every step with you.

If you ever need someone to talk with, sit with, or just watch a game with, I’m here as well as the rest of your FamILLy.
