I don't know why, but I feel better playing UConn than Duke.
Yes you do? UCONN is a significantly less imposing team, in pretty much every regard.

OVR seed: Duke #1; UCONN #6

Offense rank: Duke #6; UCONN #28

Defense rank: Duke #3; UCONN #9

Offensive rebound rate: Duke #4; UCONN #25

Defensive rebound rate: Duke #10; UCONN #86

Kenpom rating: Duke 37.29 (#3): UCONN 29.11 (#9)

Keep in mind the metric numbers are AFTER UConn’s win. Before the game, they were even more in favor of Duke.

It is too soon to look ahead, but fun to imagine anyway: which revenge game would be sweeter to win for a national championship? Michigan ('89 and Morez) or Arizona (given the cool stat that the last time we were here was after we won a fabulous victory over them in the E8, and the last time they were here was after they were gifted a victory over us in the E8?

As the second half was unfolding, I was discussing this with my son. I still wanted UConn. My son wanted to know if that was because of who I wanted to get a vistory over, or who I thought we could handle. UConn was the same answer. Duke completely lost their minds, particularly on the defensive end, and thena brain fart. I didn't want to see anymore of Hurley, but I'm looking forward to this.

Finally a moment to post after that incredible moment for our fans.

Very emotional.
I was forced to sit on the end of a row full of Iowa fans that were, save 1 rolly poly dark haired troll of a woman, very, very nice.

Except that I had to stand up to let them in and out 4,237 times. For. F$&ks. Sake.

Idiots Out Wandering Around.
Literally.

Really difficult watch for me.
The Iowa fans absolutely trolled the f$&k out of our fans. So loud. So good with all of their chants.
Fan props. Mad.

The fouls/no calls.
And we had no replay video board because apparently Texas believes in thoughts and prayers instead of science, technology, and reliable power grids./s🤣

I’m not going to rehash it. But Jfc.

The “horn” was a barely audible buzzing in the arena.

I received so many comments/compliments on the shoes(and socks) I stopped counting.

Even the Iowa fans after I told all of them all night “I got your Cinderella slippers right here b!tches!’”

And then while watching the post game celebration, an absolute out of the blue personal moment that I won’t detail, but holy sh!t what a night.

What. A. Night.

There was a (Im guessing here) 10-12 year old boy sitting next to me (Iowa fan), and he was all excited until about the last 8 minutes of the game, you could tell he was really going through it. His dad was really nice after the game and gave a congrats and a good luck.

Things I’m loving right now:

--Love that we have no punks (Boyd), floppers (Fears), chronic whiners (Izzo), or sufferers of spastic leg disorder (Fears), and we really only chirp or flex when the other team is chirping/flexing
--Love that Fears qualified on multiple negative criteria

Connecticut is REALLY, REALLY good obviously, but that is winnable game. Duke, in my opinion, would have been an uphill battle.

I’m rewatching the game this morning. From the 13:00 to the 11:00 mark in the 2nd half there were 4 calls that could have sunk us. First was a miss 3 by Iowa that went out of bounds that the refs whistled out on Ben. He got 2 hand pushed in the ribs away from the ball. Iowa hits a 3 on the possession. The next trip was the Stirtz baiting foul on Andre. The next was Keaton shooting the 3. Gets run over and the guy who ran him over trips over Keaton and Keaton gets the foul. Then to end it Tomi gets a cheap foul against Stirtz at the bucket where it didn’t even look like he touched him.

Iowa fans are losing their minds on X about the officiating, the refs kept them in the game.
They are going to be madder after they lose their HC.

We need to destroy UConn on boards.
