I was unable to attend i 2006 St Louis. Did this happen? Is it possible to happen in Indy?

Agree they weren't good against Iowa, but I do think having non-big ten refs is much better for us. The flopping they call in the big ten is brutal and all the ghost calls we got against Wisky in the Big Ten tournament can ruin a game. It's been a breath of fresh air not seeing the flopping as much in the tournament and I don't think UConn flops that much, but for us as a team who's whole strategy is predicated on not fouling - we just need the game called reasonably

High Knees is the only ref I think we need to avoid at all costs - he has literally cost us games in the past, and it seems to be so bad that there is too much bias/history there now. Anyone else I don't think will matter

I also think when it comes to the FF - coaches should get one or two "ref bans" that they feel there is too much history with and they don't get them in their games, there's too much on the line at this point. I would hope they would respect the coaches take on somebody they don't want on their game
Agree on the idea of a "ref ban" ... as a trial lawyer, I think of it as preemptory strike when picking a jury. And I would definitely use one on High Knees.

Unfortunately I think it's almost guaranteed we get High Knees. He's already done TWO Michigan games this tournament. Unless he's doing the final, it's pretty certain we'll see him on Saturday.

IMO it's about the pressure being off.

This team has had an anchor around its neck for two months with the idea they were wasting a golden opportunity. They have conquered that. This team goes down in history, they did it. Now go play free.
Exactly. I was so proud of how tough we played in the NCAA Tournament so far, especially after how we finished the year and blew that lead vs. Wisconsin in the BTT. With that said, one wouldn't have to look THAT far to be able to perhaps sense some heightened nerves. There's no way these guys aren't at least passively aware of the "temperature" of the fan base / media at a given time, and even the most mentally tough among them will have it in the back of their minds. I think they are fully aware that they just accomplished something awesome that very few people would have picked them to do a couple weeks ago, and I'm not buying that there isn't some pressure taken off of our squad because of that.

And that doesn't mean we won't come out fired up ... I think we will, and I think the team is extremely hungry to not be done yet. I just think the odds that we come out loose and have a hot shooting night are probably higher than they were in the Sweet Sixteen or Elite Eight. I'll never underestimate UConn, but it would not shock me to see the team come out and have one of those nights where everything seems to be clicking.

dude F that guy, for real. Yeah, i know he is clearly a good basketball coach, but he is immature and one-dimensionally masculine in ways that make all men look bad. Don't care what he has to say about anything, he is a bad person. Mark my words, he will not be coaching basketball at a high level in the next 5 years as the result of some controversy. His "head rub" with the official before the game was over in the Uconn game was insane. Like there is no reason why he shouldn't have absolutely gotten a T and gotten ejected. With 0.4 sec on the clock. And lost the game.
That ref is twice the man he is to show that restraint.

First off, condolences for his father's recent passing, an Illinois basketball legend himself and one of the best shooters ever before the 3pt line. Second, Roger is one of the best humans on Earth, I'm so happy to see his success beyond college for the way he can impact these kids' live. The rev, and for me being from Joliet as a young kid, the first person I've ever been star struck by was Roger Powell for how much he did for our city. He gave me so much joy representing our school and state and I'm so proud to see him doing so much positive for kids that don't always have the best influences. Roger Powell Jr is one of our finest Illini ever.
I agree with everything you said about his father and Roger jr fellow jolietian

I defy Iowa fans to tell me there was a worse whistle than the one on Stojakovic when Stirtz crossed over and jumped straight into him though.
The one where the guy backed into Wagler after a 3 attempt, then tripping over a fallen Wagler has to be a close second.

Just glad that the team didn't leave it up to the refs. (And that they improved their FT% b/w Houston and Iowa.)

Good to know. Next questions is the 125/ Pp worth it. Especially with 2 minors in tow. Not a lot of info about it so 🤷
