I feel like UConn got the lucky rolls, and we didn't. So may open 3's did not fall for us, and so many lay-ups just bounced out. Luck was on UConn's side tonight.

That being said, man am I going to miss this Illini team. See you in October :(

I hate to do it, but I have to give UConn fans credit. Outnumbered by a ridiculous amount, but they were LOUD. The ones in my section are also obnoxious AF.

The game was a gritty, very hard-fought, physical contest. They banked in one 3, had another bounce into the air, hit the rim front and back and drop through. We had at least 5 shots rim out, including a couple 3’s and that weird layup by Andrej that almost died on the back of the rim. The ball just bounced the wrong way for the Illini. Literally.

This one hurts, but not all that much. Feels a lot more like a building block then anything else. I think it lit a fire under a bunch of dudes that will want to get back as quickly as possible.

I think I’d rather IL lost by being outplayed than by losing because the Rim God turning against them. The Stojakovic gravity defying miss along with their mega brick and banked made 3’s is a brutal way to lose.

Solo ball brick 3 10 feet into the air that came down and bounced it

Solo ball mid range same thing

The Mullins and ball 3s were both run Enders with the Mullins 3 when we had cut a lead to 5 and ball after a 4 or 6 pt run to get back to single digits

Absolutely brutal

Yeah it hurts but very proud as well a banner will be hung from this run. Illinois basketball is here to stay we will remain on the national stage. Underwood is a master recruiter he will get the talent to Champaign. This run will help our rep moving forward and with NIL we will rebuild and destroy.

I think UCONN had pretty good control of this game for 40 minutes and capitalized on their good fortune. We had great fortune with how our quarter of the bracket played out.

Getting to the Final 4 is massive and although this loss sucks, we are now a truly respected and highly regarded program. The blue bloods and same teams win all of the titles, and I think we'd need to get the top NBA draft pick to win it all. But for sure, we are now a force.

Really rough tournament for Jake Davis. He couldn't get open looks and that's the only reason he's out there. If I'm correct, he only got one three off today and it was affected by the defender closing on him at the last second. It's tough to have a starting lineup in a Final Four with only 3 real offensive options. Even when Illinois made runs tonight, it was more a result of extended UConn droughts than it was Illinois putting together a sustained offensive attack. The offense just never really clicked.

I understand zero of the ‘luck’ went our way tonight but I fully believe Dan Hurley sells a little of his soul to the bball gods every year to continually be where UConn lands post season.

They have experience, we don't. Nothing to be ashamed of losing to them. Its not like last time when they embarrassed us.

Hell of a ride.

I'm disappointed with how things ended for KB with all the good things he's done for the program. He knows and everyone does, he cost himself a lot of bread coming to college early. Even off a down season, he'd have made a ton in NIL next season.

I'd think Mirk is the one given. Probably Jake but I don't think you offer him more than opportunity of spot bench minutes IMO. I think twins/AS are up in the air (from whatever view point you want to take)....starting Jake over AS is akin to Ben over Morez from comparing talent vs talent

But above all else, thank you Keaton for the year of one most surprising and enjoyable freshman seasons in college basketball history 🏆 certainly a season no Illini fan will ever forget

Loved the ride. Such a great group of guys. How can you not love them.

Knew this was going to be hard one to win. Hurley is the best NCAA coach in the country and had his team at top level. We’ve seen the beloved like this before. Hard to win when certain parts of the game are not jelling for you.

I’ve been hyper critical of BU and his staff this season, from in game roster management, to lack of timeouts, etc. But had his team performing at the highest level in March. And got us to the holy land.

Great job Coach and staff! Already looking forward to next season.

Nothing to hang heads about. This is why we do it. Total trust in Brad and the staff to maintain this momentum and next year, it’s a “we belong here” vs “holy sh!t, we’re here” kind of feeling.
