Much has been said about us having a bad night of shooting. But let's be honest, it's been closer to a trend, not an anomoly.

A buddy and I have commented many times watching the Illini clank wide open 3s in this and previous seasons...that great teams make open shots.

If we are going to insist on running an offense that wants to shoot volume 3s, then we need more consistent and reliable shooters. Yes, I know we've had some good games, but the cold streaks are a death warrant in a one and done scenario.

Don't take my post as an attack on any one person or this team. I've watched and cheered for this team since the early 80s. I've lived through the good, the, bad the ugly and everything inbetween...this was one of the best I've ever had the pleasure to watch. This team is to be congratulated and will rightfully be honored with a banner.

But separate from my feelings about this year and this team, reality has to be acknowledged, too. We need to improve a few areas if we're getting to the promised land. And for the first time in all my years as an Illini fan, I think we have the right people in charge to make it happen.

Congrats on a great season, young men. You've made us all proud.

It's a thin margin between agony and jubilation. This very easily could've been a night where we made our shots and they missed theirs and we'd be moving on. But that's basketball.

It's a thin margin between taking your dad to the national championship game in Indy 23 years after he took you to your first Illini game in Indy and having to list your Natty tickets on stubhub. But that's basketball.

This isn't our last shot. We'll be back sooner than later under Brad. But I recognize some fans don't have the luxury of the margin between sooner and later. And I'm heartbroken for them. That's basketball.

It's a game won in the margins. But really, being a fan isn't about the margins. It's about ignoring the margins.

I'll mourn this season. But I won't hang my head too long. I'm proud of these guys. I'm proud of Brad and Josh and the university. It's been a great ride filled with tons of memories.

ILL

Also, I hate UConn.
This is probably the best thing I’ve ever read on this site.

I had to watch the game on tape delay due to a family Passover seder. Game just finished.

Although the game didn't go the way we wanted it to go, I couldn't be more proud of our guys and our team. We competed hard from the tip. We never dropped our heads no matter how much of a deficit we faced.

At the beginning of the season, I said I would be ecstatic with n elite 8 run. I appreciate that this team gave us this postseason run, including all the hard work the players put in to get us here.

Best wishes to our departing players. Keaton, I'm looking forward to what you'll bring to NBA basketball. What a privilege it's been to watch you play. Hummer, I'm sorry I doubted you so much. Thanks for the work you put into proving folks like me wrong.

I'm looking forward to seeing the improvement we'll get from Mirko, Andrej, and the twins next season. I'm also looking forward to what the incoming talent will be able to do. What an exciting time to be an Illini basketball fan.

such a fun season. vibes were awesome

run it back keaton? #1 pick 2027 NBA draft
Love the kid. Love his toughness. Love how steady he is. Love that he doesn’t complain when he gets mugged. Love that he doesn’t sell fouls. Love that he is emotionally invested in the Illini. Love that he chooses his words carefully….
He should go live his dream, and test himself against the best in the world. He has earned it. He is too good for college basketball. He has nothing left to prove at this level.
