Illini Women's Basketball

Shauna likes to get them the 2nd time around. Jasmine, Aaliyah, and Divine were misses that had subpar freshman years before coming here. Pretty good strategy.

We can definitely play small ball this year. This gives us an 8 player rotation not counting Manu, Lety, and Erica. And everyone has high hopes that Manu could start. Seems like every year girls get hurt and we end up playing 6. Let’s keep everybody.

Is Shauna done? I’ll bet not.

It's a nice guard group. But one a little weak on shooting. Dolan does a lot of good things but, wow, is she a bricklayer that keeps on bricking. Guyton could be overall more aggressive. Brown-Hagger needs consistency. Webber brings energy and talent but maybe needs to improve the D?

One more athletic big and Illinois is set - hopefully to host in the NCAA tournament next year. That should be a realistic goal.
Agreed on our guards' lack of consistent shooting skills. I think Finney is supposed to be a sharpshooter, but with all the guards already on the roster, will she crack the rotation? I don't know enough about her. And yeah, we need one more athletic big to round out the team. No question.

Both Dolan and Guyton shot poorly this year but both have good looking shooting form. They should improve. Destiny will definitely score more as she gets older.

Great breakdown of the backcourt. Only guard who is automatic in the lineup is Destiny imo. The rest will be fighting for the 2 and 3 spot for minutes

A lot of the poor shooting came from pressure due to not being able to get the ball inside and forcing up a shot. I have faith that our shooters will get it going if we have a more well rounded offense

But you have a good point that offense will need to improve

I believe Dee Alexander 5* McDAA was rumored to come here too on the rebound. But she's not in the portal. Yet anyhow. Although there are 5 other players from Cincinnati in.

Let’s get to the top six of the conference and the second weekend first.
Listen I'm extremely being rational .I'm looking at the talent, which is so good, they will better just 5 on 5 in their practices. This year you will see her rotation expands to 8(and a half) which will lead to fresher players and fresher players lead to more dominance and dominance leads to more wins...The defense will be better .The offense will be extremely potent ,way more experience of the bitter taste of having most of those wins within their grasp of winning with a newly constructed continuity ...It will better because of more chemistry and weapons.. Believe me as you have seen Coach Green doesn't let walk away wins happen...This team is loaded andy hunch says that Coach Green was very close to getting Trinity Jones and I believe we are now closer...Just think 4 All Americans (Destiny was an all American a couple publications.),and a superstar or three in the making .I predict that those nine B1G loss will shrink to a max of 3.and the only way we lose non conference games, unless Green follows coach Underwood's of testing the mettle of his teams early, which I think it would be great for them..But if they have that LSU cupcake special again, you watch some of these beatings these teams take....There is no exaggerating this teams floor .This team will be a matchup problem and coached to loooovvvvee winning .... Coach Green in her time here has improved her teams leaps and bounds annually That's not going to change this year..
This one comes back with talent to implement

Get me some of that orange kool-aid. Only 3 loses in the Big Ten is almost impossible with UCLA, USC, Iowa, Michigan, OSU plus plenty of other tough teams. 6 losses seems like a more reasonable target.

Minnesota is said to be the leader for Liv McGill from Florida. 22.5/6.3/6.1/2.6 and shot 43.1 as a guard. Maybe the best player in the portal. Lets hope the new Florida coach can talk her back. Yes to go with only 3 losses in the B1G is asking alot. I'd be very happy with only 6. If we add Trinity or a high quality big I might reconsider!

UCLA will be a new team...They lost 4 pros and 6 or 7 seniors..USC has talent but Illinois has three possibly 4 HS all Americans and neither may be better than Parchment or Alves(she is a pro barring injury history)..That's not even considering Gretchen coming back better, Vasconcelos better(although I do think we need a big big who can score. The team is going to be box office and going national the coaching is elite and the talent is the BEST that Illinois has ever had .So I'm looking forward to get back against Ohio State, Minnesota Wisconsin Oregon,OregonState,Michigan State, and especially Iowa.. USC will have great talent but not great coaches., Michigan is a beast but our talent is very similar..I'm pointing this out so some can know that talent wise and coaching the Ill-ini is on the top rung.
