NBA Draft

If the decision is made, I don't get the waiting. Just announce it.

If I'm LAC, I'd send Leonard and Garland to the Nets for the No. 6 pick and draft Wagler and Acuff.
This is ridiculous for many reasons, but you do realize that the Nets can't just take on $92 million in salary and give up draft picks in return right? They have $7.7 million in cap space, which means they have to salary match for the remaining $84.3 million.

Not to stereotype anyone here, but if you are a casual fan whose knowledge of the NBA is anchored to the last time the Bulls were any good, it's hard to overstate how comically complicated the rules around trades have become.

And if we're being honest, they did have a chance for the chip if Kawhi stayed healthy.
Or George. Paul was 3rd in MVP voting the year prior to the trade. All-NBA, All-Defense.
Both guys were in their prime (both 28), Kawhi coming off a championship in Toronto.

First year, it looked like a decent gamble. They finished 2nd in the West behind LAL in the COVID year. They were a solid playoff team after that, with one or both of them missing significant time every year.

Was it an over-pay? Absolutely, especially in hindsight, but they swung for the fences. As a fan, I think you'd prefer that to languishing in mediocrity, while hoping one of your "upside" draft picks actually has some.
